Christian Ringo, DT

School: UL Lafayette  |  Conference: BELT
College Experience: Senior  |  Hometown: Jackson, MS
Height/Weight: 6-1 / 293 lbs.
Projected Ranking
OverallPositionProj. Rnd.

Player Overview

Ringo ranked seventh in the naiton with 20 tackles for a loss as a senior and was 12th in the nation with 11.5 sacks while also recording 45 tackles.

That came on the heels of a junior season in which ringo played in 11 games with 10 starts but was hampered most of the year by a hamstring injury. He finished with just 16 tackles and one sacks. He had seven starts in 2012, recording 29 tackles and a team-high seven sacks.

Strengths Weaknesses

Excellent athlete for his size (4.97-second 40-yard dash at his pro day) and has displayed good strength with 28 reps on the 225-pound bench press. Dominated lower level of competition, showing the speed and agility to attack the backfield through the interior of the offensive line or off the edge.

May lack the bulk to remain inside at the next level, but lacks the height and length to consistently win off the edge. Likely a rotational player who sack production in college is not likely to translate to the pros due to his squatty build and lack of length.

05/04/2015 - A closer look at the Packers' eight picks: Round 6/210 - Christian Ringo, DE, 6-1, 277, Louisiana-Lafayette...Head coach Mike McCarthy says Ringo, albeit about 30 pounds lighter, reminds him of emerging Mike Daniels, who led Green Bay's defensive linemen with 5 1/2 sacks last season. Playing considerably in the interior, the explosive Ringo set a program record with 11 1/2 sacks in 2014. - The Sports Xchange
