Strengths Weaknesses

Good athlete at 6-5, 229 pounds who has background in basketball and soccer. Strong leg and able to provide adequate hang time (4.1-second average). Shown skill for dropping punts inside 20-yard line, but needs more consistency in directional punting.

Brings potential as a kickoff man in addition to his punting duties. Left Clemson after his junior season to pursue professional career.

Player Overview

Pinion left Clemson after his junior season, having served as the punter and kickoff man over the past two seasons. He averaged 44.1 yards per punt (39.2-yard net) over 34 career games.

Pinion, who was the top-rated high school punter in the nation by 247Sports.com, leaves Clemson seventh in school history in punting average.

"I had a great experience the last three years and I will always be a Clemson Tiger," Pinion said in announcing he would forego his final year of eligibility. "I want to thank all the fans, my teammates, the football staff and especially Coach (Dabo) Swinney for giving me the opportunity. It has always been my dream to play in the NFL and I just feel the timing is right for me to turn professional."

05/05/2015 - A closer look at the 49ers' 10 picks: Round 5/165 -- Bradley Pinion, P/K, 6-5, 229, Clemson...Pinion left Clemson a year early in hopes of being the first kicker selected. He was. That's a credit to his versatility. He excels at pinning opponents deep with his directional punting, and making them start from the 20-yard-line with his ability to sail kickoffs out of the end zone. The latter might be where he cracks the 2015 lineup. Veterans Andy Lee (punter) and Phil Dawson (field-goal kicker) would seem to have a lock on their jobs. - The Sports Xchange
