Player Overview

Young signed with Temple in 2012 out of Oxon Hill (Md.) Potomac high school.

He played in 10 games as a true freshman and started twice. Young finished with three tackles and two interceptions that season.

In 2013, Young started in six games and played in all the others. He led the team with five pass breakups and tied for the team lead in interceptions with three.

In 2014, Young had a breakout season. He posted a career high four interceptions and had 13 passes defended. In 2015, Young had 41 tackles, one sack, five tackles for a loss, and seven pass breakups.

Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Always around the ball and ready to make plays as a tough, instinctive corner who has shown good ball-skills. Solid in coverage and in run support.

Has a good feel in pass coverage, especially sitting in zone. Does a good job of watching/reading the quarterback's eyes. He's quicker than fast and shows the ability to effectively break on the ball, including at the Senior Bowl where he showed terrific timing and closing speed to break up multiple passes during practices, ripping at the ball as it arrived. He can play press and can be effective in man coverage.

Against the run, Young is more than solid and shows good fundamentals. Feisty player and a good teammate who has displayed leadership skills, especially the past two seasons.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks elite size and speed and will really be challenged in the NFL, especially against the bigger, physical wide receivers. He looks to be a more effective cover guy in zone than man, which could limit him further. He can struggle versus the screen game.

IN OUR VIEW: Young shows the knack for making plays around the ball. At just 5-9 (and 3/8") and 180 pounds, Young isn't imposing but he is scrappy, projecting best as a nickel or dime defender in the NFL.
