- Another Florida QB makes off-the-field news...University of Florida police were called to Bel Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla., on Monday night after Gators third-string quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg and defensive lineman Gerald Willis were involved in an altercation. According to the University Police log, there was a reported battery, but the the case was listed as "complaint withdrawal." It's the second incident involving a Florida quarterback in the past few days. Florida freshman Treon Harris was suspended from team activities on Monday after he was accused of secually assaulting a female student early Sunday morning in a dorm.
No charges were filed in that case. Harris started in Florida's 10-9 victory over Tennessee on Saturday after Jeff Driskel was benched. Mornhinweg and Willis got into a fight outside the stadium, according to multiple reports, but it's not clear what precipitated the confrontation. "It was a misunderstanding between two teammates," university spokesman Steve McClain said. "Coach (Will) Muschamp has not announced any discipline decisions at this time." Mornhinweg, son of New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, sustained an unspecified injury. - The Sports Xchange
