07/08/2011 - 2011 JOHN MACKEY AWARD PRESEASON WATCH LIST: Nick Provo, Syracuse, Sr, is one of 34 tight ends named to the Mackey Award preseason watch list for the 2001 college football season by the Nassau County (N.Y.) Sports Commission. The Mackey Award, named for NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, is presented annually to college football's most outstanding tight end. Provo recorded his best season with the Orange in 2010, highlighted by 33 receptions, which ranks second on SU's single season receptions by tight end record list. Through three seasons with the Orange, the West Palm Beach, FL native has recorded the sixth-most receptions for a tight end with 41 for 490 yards and two touchdowns. Provo, an information management and technology major, had a career-day last season against Maine with five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown.
