04/26/2010 - A closer look at the Dolphins' picks: Round 4/119 -- A.J. Edds, ILB, 6-3, 246, Iowa, Edds, who had five interceptions last season, excels in pass coverage and should make an immediate impact in nickel situations.

03/23/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: LB A.J. Edds (6-3 1/4, 247) ran a 4.67 and 4.69 in the 40, had a 35 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.49 short shuttle, a 7.40 three-cone drill and 18 bench press reps. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

03/03/2010 - A.J. Edds has done whatever has been asked of him, whether at Greenwood High School or the University of Iowa. He will continue to do so in the NFL. An outside linebacker prospect at the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium, Edds wants to make an immediate impact. Several draft publications have affixed him with a fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round grade in the April 22-24 draft. "There's no redshirt year in the NFL,'' Edds said. "They don't take projects. They take guys that they want to come and compete and play right away.'' Edds, a 6-4, 246-pounder, was a three-year starter at Iowa who finished with 226 tackles. As a senior, he had 78 tackles and five interceptions. "I pride myself on not being the weak link, not being the guy to give up plays,'' he said. At Greenwood, Edds did a lot of this, a lot of that. He was a three-time first-team All-State performer while seeing double duty at linebacker and tight end. He also did some long-snapping. "A lot guys get hung up on how much they weigh, how fast they are,'' Edds said. "At the end of the day, it's important that you're a coachable guy that can play and go out there and do what the coaches ask you to do and not just show off and talk about it. "You've got to be a guy who works your (butt) off.'' NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock believes there's a place in the NFL for Edds. "He's a draftable kid that because of his play on special teams should find a home in the NFL,'' he said. - Mike Chappell, The Indianapolis Star

02/17/2010 - PRO POTENTIAL: LB A.J. Edds - Overshadowed by Angerer during his time at Iowa, Edds stood out during Senior Bowl practice. Edds was commended by scouts for jamming and re-routing Wisconsin TE Garrett Graham during 7-on-7 drills. But Edds stumbled when he had to turn and run, raising concerns about his coverage skills.

01/27/2010 - Senior Bowl, Tuesday: There's nothing flashy about Iowa outside linebacker A.J. Edds, but he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Whether blowing up fullbacks or covering up receivers in the flat, he flashed the skills to be a Ben Leber-type coverage linebacker who will play for 10 years in the NFL. - Rob Rang and Chad Reuter, The Sports Xchange, NFLDraftScout.com

11/25/2009 - 2009 ALL-BIG TEN CONFERENCE HONORABLE MENTION (MEDIA): A.J. Edds has been selected Honorable Mention All-Big Ten for the 2009 college football season as voted on by the Big Ten media. - Iowa/Big Ten football

11/25/2009 - 2009 ALL-BIG TEN CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): LB A.J. Edds, Iowa, has been selected Second Team All-Big Ten for the 2009 college football season as voted on by the Big Ten coaches. - Iowa/Big Ten football

08/24/2009 - 2009 PRESEASON BUTKUS AWARD WATCH LIST: A.J. Edds, Iowa, has been selected one of 35 players nominated for the 2009 Butkus Award, which goes to college's footballs's top linebacker. Edds recorded 59 tackles, including 18 solo tackles and 41 assists, along with one interception and two fumble recoveries in 2008. - Iowa football

07/15/2009 - Six seniors who could graduate to first-round status: OLB A.J. Edds, Iowa: The Big Ten annually provides NFL teams with at least one first-day linebacker prospect. The healthy return of Penn State's Sean Lee is a story to follow, but don't lose sight of Edds, the most talented linebacker prospect from the Hawkeyes since Chad Greenway. Like Greenway, the 6-4, 245-pound Edds is athletic enough to handle coverage responsibilities, but isn't afraid to come up and hit. Edds' relatively pedestrian numbers last season (59 tackles, 4.5 for loss, 2.0 sacks) are more an indication of the respect the opposition had for him than a lack of playmaking ability on Edds' part. Voted to the honorable mention all-Big Ten team last season, expect Edds to ascend to first-team status and high-round consideration in 2009. - Rob Rang, The SportsXchange, NFLDraftScout.com

05/14/2009 - LB A.J. Edds sat out the spring following shoulder surgery in January, but is expected to make a full recovery by fall.
