Latest News
04/30/2012 - The 49ers signed several former Stanford players as rookie free agents including wide receiver Chris Owusu. He ran a 4.36 40-yard dash time at the combine, but sustained two concussions in three weeks and missed his final four games. The team also signed defensive end Matt Masifulu and safety Michael Taylor. "Scouts and coaches have done a good job with the recruiting process, that this is a place (recruits) would like to be," general manager Trent Baalke said. "When the list comes out, you'll be surprised by some names." - The Sports Xchange

04/19/2012 - Larry Krueger is more than just a sports talk radio host on KNBR. He's also a former NFL scout with the Cardinals who takes an acute interest in the NFL Draft every year. Krueger particularly likes to scour draft eligible players and pick out sleepers. Matthew Malifilo, DE, Stanford: Malifilo is a 290-pound athlete who didn't make much of an impact as a d-end. But Krueger would convert him to the offensive line, have him put on some weight and see how he develops. - Kevin Lynch, San Francisco Chronicle

03/22/2012 - Stanford Pro Day: Defensive lineman Matt Masifilo also turned heads. Measuring in at 6-3 (1/2) and 300 pounds, he posted a surprisingly quick 5.12 time in the 40-yard dash and proved the strongest of Stanford's prospects Thursday, posting 38 reps on the bench press. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
