12/16/2011 - 2011 CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): OL-Ron Leary, Sr., Memphis, has been selected All-Conference USA Second Team for the 2011 college football season as selected by the league's 12 head football coaches. A native of Baton Rouge, La., Leary has played in 44 career games at Memphis and made 36 consecutive starts on the offensive line. Leary worked at left tackle much of his career, starting at that position in all 24 games through 2009 and 2010. He started the first six games of his senior season at left tackle, but was forced inside because of various injuries in the line, and made his final six career starts at right guard. Leary saw action on 781 offensive plays in 2011 and ended his career having worked 2,296 offensive plays from 2008-11. In 2008, he was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team. Last weekend at the team's post-season banquet, Leary was named one of the squad's Most Valuable Players, an honor he shared with Poe, and was named the Offensive Lineman of the Year. In addition, Leary earned a Leadership Award from the coaching staff at the last two spring games. - Memphis football

09/10/2011 - SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: After viewing video of his team's 45-point loss to Mississippi State, Tigers coach Larry Porter still thought his team's offense has a chance to be "pretty good." Against the Bulldogs, they gained 338 yards. "I'm very proud of our offensive line, and I think our backs were pretty productive," Porter said. "We had a young quarterback who came in and played with tremendous poise and seems to have a great future ahead of him. Our wide receivers have to play better. I think they will. Collectively, I think we have more than enough to be productive at that position." - The Sports Xchange
