04/30/2012 - A closer look at the Raiders' picks: 4/129 - Miles Burris, LB, 6-2, 246, San Diego State...An outside linebacker in a 3-3-5 scheme in college, Burris did a little bit of everything. His film stands out in terms of passion and playmaking and he should be an asset on special teams. - The Sports Xchange

04/30/2012 - Linebacker Miles Burris has some lofty role models when it comes to defensive football. "I've heard a lot of comparisons with different players, a little Clay Matthews just because of the position I played in college," Burris said. "I don't try to emulate anyone on the field, but there are things from a mental standpoint that I like about Matthews and Brian Urlacher. "They bring the same intensity to every play and that's something I try and do on the field, just play as hard as I can and that's when good things happen." - The Sports Xchange

03/22/2012 - Linebacker Miles Burris bent his knees Wednesday, dug his white cleats into the green turf, and shot backward into the air at San Diego State's pro day. A backflip. Not the kind of maneuver that will send scouts scrambling to reorganize their draftboard - "if you ever see anyone doing that in a game, let me know," one quipped - but it's the latest piece to a message Burris is out to send. At 6-feet-2, 236 pounds, the ex-Aztecs captain wants to prove he's athletic enough to fit in with any NFL team, and theatrics aside, he seemed to build his case during a final audition before April's draft. A bare-chested Burris fared well in the 40-yard dash, where most scouts clocked him at about 4.67 seconds. But it was the three-cone drill, timed in the range of 6.80-6.85 seconds, that sent SDSU's top tackler and sack leader into a midair tizzy. "It was kind of spur of the moment," Burris, 23, said of the backflip that drew the day's loudest ovation from spectators. "I felt good in that drill, so I went for it ... "I think I've been able to show I have versatility. Some teams project me at (strongside linebacker). Sometimes, it's the two inside guys or an outside-rush guy. Everyone has their own opinion, but I think that works for me. I really do believe I can play any linebacker position in any scheme." Burris is projected to be drafted somewhere on Day 3, when rounds 4-7 are held. - Michael Gehlken, U-T San Diego

12/17/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: OLB Miles Burris has a non-stop motor that can serve SDSU well in the bowl game. His ability to run to the ball is a factor in turnovers. Burris is fourth in school history in career sacks with 19 after collecting a pair in SDSU's 35-28 come-from-behind win over Fresno State on Dec. 3 in the regular-season finale. - The Sports Xchange

He ranks eighth in the country in tackles for a loss (1.58/g), tied for 19th in fumble recoveries (0.25/g) and tied for 32nd in sacks (0.67/g).
