03/13/2012 - Under-the-radar Pro Day workouts that opened eyes: We'll start off at Western Kentucky where scouts from the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers likely traveled to get a closer look at star running back Bobby Rainey but left buzzing about the raw athleticism of wide receiver-turned cornerback Derrius Brooks. Brooks, who incidentally led the Hilltoppers in interceptions after each of the two seasons in which he played defense (seven total through 2010-2011), was reportedly timed at 4.29 and 4.35 seconds in two attempts at the 40-yard dash. Each would have been ranked as the fastest time recorded at the 2012 Combine. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

12/16/2011 - 2011 ALL-SUN BELT CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM: Derrius Brooks (WKU, Sr., DB), has been selected All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team for the 2011 college football season. A converted wide receiver, Brooks emerged as one of the top cornerbacks in just his second season playing the position. After serving in a backup role to start the season, the Fortson, Ga., senior started each of the last eight games at cornerback. He ranks fifth on the team with 48 total tackles, including 33 solo stops. His team-best four interceptions are tied for second-most in the conference in 2011, and tied for 23rd nationally. On top of his INTs, Brooks also led the team with 10 pass breakups. He finished with a season-high nine tackles against Louisiana-Lafayette, and had multiple stops in all 12 games. That included four or more tackles seven times. - Western Kentucky football
