08/09/2012 - Coach Art Briles sees Michigan transfer Darryl Stonum providing another threat, both at wide receiver and on kickoff returns. After sitting out last season because off-field issues at Michigan, Stonum has been eager to make an impression since being cleared to practice Monday by the NCAA. "He's hungry," Briles said. 08/08/2012 - Darryl Stonum opened Baylor's Monday practice in street clothes and finished running patterns in practice gear. The transfer receiver from Michigan was cleared to play during practice, and is now enrolled in Baylor graduate school. Stonum will be immediately eligible to play this season since he's already received his undergraduate degree from Michigan. He has one season of eligibility remaining at Baylor. "We're grateful that he's out here and practicing," Baylor coach Art Briles said. "He had a lot of spring and a lot of confidence today. You can tell he's played a bunch of ball." Stonum was dismissed from the Michigan squad in January after he was arrested for driving with a revoked license. Stonum was previously arrested in May 2011 for driving visibly impaired. 07/22/2012 - Michigan wide receiver Darryl Stonum announced Sunday he is transferring to Baylor. Stonum, who has one year of eligibility left, missed last season because of disciplinary issues. He made the made the announcement on his Twitter account. Baylor has yet to confirm he is part of its football roster. The Stafford, Texas, native was dismissed from the team prior to last season after his second drunken driving arrest and then violating his probation in 2010. He is expected to be eligible at Baylor as a graduate student in a program not offered at Michigan. Stonum has 76 career catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns at Michigan. 07/21/2012 - Darryl Stonum appears to have found a new home - and it's a lot closer to home. The former Michigan football receiver announced Friday via Twitter that he plans to finish his playing career at Baylor, which is located about three hours from his hometown of Stafford, Texas. He is expected to be eligible to play next season by taking advantage of an NCAA rule that eliminates the sit-out year for graduate students. As long as he enrolls in a graduate program that Michigan doesn't offer, he can play right away. "Wanna thank every1 for all the love n support (throughout) my career," Stonum tweeted. "Past few months been tough but ive learned and its made me a better person. "That being said, with the blessing and grace of God..... I'm back! Time to get back to work." Stonum included a picture of Baylor's logo with his tweets. Stonum was one of the Wolverines' top receivers before run-ins with the law sidelined him. He took a redshirt last year as a senior after a second drunken driving arrest and was expected to start on this year's team. He was kicked off the team in January, though, after he was arrested for driving on a suspended license the day after Michigan returned from the Sugar Bowl. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, but was released early. 01/17/2012 - Michigan has dismissed wide receiver Darryl Stonum, who was sentenced to 10 days in jail earlier this month after violating probation in a drunken-driving case. Coach Brady Hoke announced the dismissal Tuesday for what he called a violation of team rules. Stonum started 25 games for the Wolverines, catching 76 passes for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned 62 kickoffs for 1,538 yards and holds the single-season kickoff return mark with 39 returns for 1,001 yards in 2009. Stonum was sentenced to two years of probation last June for operating a vehicle while visibly impaired. He was also jailed last summer for violating probation following 2008 charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. He was driving with a revoked license this month, violating his probation. He has one year of eligibility remaining. Stonum says he is focused on graduating this spring. - AP Sports

A district court judge in Ann Arbor sentenced Stonum on Friday, sending him to the Washtenaw County jail. His probation officer filed the violation Thursday, when Stonum was pulled over and driving with a revoked license. Stonum was sentenced to two years of probation in June for operating a vehicle while visibly impaired. He was also jailed last summer for violating probation following 2008 charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. He has one year of eligibility after being redshirted. Coach Brady Hoke said Thursday that Stonum was still on the team. 01/05/2012 - Michigan wide receiver Darryl Stonum has apparently violated probation. Stonum's probation officer, Steve Hill, said that Stonum was stopped by Ann Arbor police on Thursday morning after driving with a revoked license. Stonum was sentenced to two years of probation in June for operating a vehicle while visibly impaired in May. He was suspended indefinitely and eventually redshirted, leaving him one more year of eligibility. When Stonum was a freshman in 2008, he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. Stonum ended up in jail last summer because he didn't comply with terms of his probation.
