10/06/2011 - LT Kyle Nunn was held out against Auburn with a bulging disc in his back that forced numbness in his foot. The decision was not made until an hour before the game. The same will probably happen this week, as the only decision that must be made is how much pain he can play with. There is no concern about worsening the injury. - The Sports Xchange

10/03/2011 - OT Kyle Nunn missed his first game because of a back injury that was not disclosed until minutes before Saturday's game against Auburn. While coach Steve Spurrier holds out hope he will possibly be able to return to action, it is more probable that he could miss significant playing time, as surgery is an option. - The Sports Xchange

07/19/2011 - 2011 SEC PRESEASON ALL-SEC THIRD TEAM (COACHES): OL Kyle Nunn, South Carolina, Sr., has been selected All-SEC Football Preseason Third Team for the 2011 college football season as selected by the SEC head football coaches. - SEC football

12/22/2010 - Kyle Nunn chose to be coy on Tuesday when asked why he decided to turn in paperwork to the National Football League's Draft Advisory Board to see his possible standing in the 2011 NFL draft to be held in April. "I would rather not discuss that at this time," Nunn, the former Sumter High School standout and junior starting left offensive tackle for the University of South Carolina, said following the Gamecocks' practice. "I will be glad to answer questions about the upcoming bowl game (the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31 in Atlanta) and Florida State, but I don't want to talk about that now." OK. USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott said he was surprised when Nunn and offensive guard Rokevious Watkins were two of "eight or nine" USC underclassmen that head coach Steve Spurrier said had filled out the paperwork for the board. "I don't know," Elliott responded when asked if he knew why Nunn and Watkins had taken that step. "I guess they just wanted to see where they stood. "That's them and their stuff," he added. "I guess you just let them do what they want to do in that case." "I hope when they get those papers it will say "seventh round" (the final round of the NFL draft), and they'll be back," he said. "That's the selfish side coming out in me." Elliott, who is the school's third offensive line coach in three years, said the 6-foot-5-inch, 304-pound Nunn has made steady progress from when he first started working with him in spring practice to where he is now as USC prepares to face FSU. "He's always had the ability to be a very good player," Elliott said of Nunn, who has started the last four games at left tackle and has eight starts for the 9-4 Gamecocks. "He didn't always seem to want to do what was necessary at the beginning, but he's making strides to being a good player. - Dennis Brunson, The Sumter Item
