10/04/2012 - THIS WEEK'S GAME: USC at Utah, Oct. 4 -- The Trojans are making their first trip to Salt Lake City since 1917, when USC blasted Utah 51-0. The Utes are an impressive 22-2-1 in home games after bye weeks all-time, and are 6-1 under coach Kyle Whittingham following byes. The loss, however, came last year against Washington. The teams have played each other in a pair of bowl games in their histories, with USC winning the 1993 Freedom Bowl 28-21 and the Utes winning the 2001 Las Vegas Bowl 10-6. KEYS TO THE GAME: The Utes need a fast start to get the Rice-Eccles Stadium crowd into the game from the outset and keep the team emotionally charged. If they can control the line of scrimmage early and get the upper hand, they'll be able to withstand a big play by the Trojans and keep the pressure on the USC defense. If the Trojans get a quick score or seize early momentum, the Utes may lack the firepower to rally. - The Sports Xchange

09/24/2012 - WR DeVonte Christopher has to become more of a playmaker for the offense. He did not record any receptions against Arizona State and lost a yard on a carry. He is the team's most experience wideout and has to find ways to find openings in opposing defenses to help QB Jon Hays. Christopher is a dangerous kickoff returner who has to have that mentality of breaking every play on offense.

07/27/2012 - Top-five Utah prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft: 4. WR DeVonte Christopher...Though none of them have ever come close to matching the success of former Ute star Steve Smith in the NFL, Utah has consistently sent receivers to league, with four wideouts having been selected since Smith was drafted by the Carolina Panthers No. 74 overall in 2001. The lean, athletic Christopher has led the Utes in receiving each of the past two seasons and could see his numbers grow significantly in 2012 with returning starting quarterback Jordan Wynn back to health. Christopher caught 42 passes for 663 yards and five touchdowns a season ago for the Utes, including one of the biggest of the season -- a 24-yard catch down the sideline on 4th and 14 with just 1:32 remaining to put Utah in position to send the Sun Bowl into overtime. Christopher, who signed with Utah as a quarterback, is still developing as a route-runner and too often allows passes into his pads. However, he's become a more consistent threat over his career, is an experienced kick returner and has the combination of size and speed worthy of late round consideration. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

07/18/2012 - 2012 BILETNIKOFF AWARD PRESEASON WATCH LIST: DeVonte Christopher, Utah, has been selected to the Preseason Biletnikoff Award Watch List for the 2012 college football season, presented to America's top college football wide receiver by The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. Christopher, Utah's leading receiver for the past two seasons, has five career 100-yard games. In 11 games last year (he missed two games with an ankle injury), he caught a team-high 42 passes for 663 yards and five touchdowns. Christopher caught the game-tying touchdown pass in the Sun Bowl on fourth-and-14 and Utah went on to beat Georgia Tech in overtime. - Utah football

12/31/2011 - SCOUTING THE UTAH PASSING GAME: When Hays first replaced Jordan Wynn after Wynn suffered the season-ending shoulder injury in the fourth game against Washington, he had numbers similar to Wynn. Wynn was 12-of-17 for 149 yards with one TD and one interception. Hays came in and completed 10-of-16 passes for 156 yards with one TD and one interception. Hays, however, struggled during the next three weeks with the entire playbook, and the Utah coaching staff simplified the offense to the point in which he could run it without making a mistake or a costly turnover. WR DeVonte Christopher remains Utah's most dangerous pass-catching threat with a team-leading 38 receptions for 549 yards and four TDs. The Yellow Jackets give up a respectable 198.3 yards to rank 30th, nationally. - The Sports Xchange
