11/09/2012 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: The defense is coming off a game in which it had an effort to be proud of. It bent, but did not break while the Irish controlled the ball for most of the first half. In the fourth quarter and overtime, the unit came up with critical turnovers in the end zone to keep the Panthers' hopes alive. The Huskies have done little right on offense this season as they rank 117th in scoring at 16.5 points per game. Coordinator David Huxtable needs to find a way to keep his unit's intensity level high so as not spring any leaks against an UConn offense it should otherwise handle. - The Sports Xchange

07/18/2012 - 2012 JIM THORPE AWARD PRESEASON WATCH LIST: Jarred Holley, Pittsburgh S, Sr., has been selected to the Preseason Jim Thorpe Award Watch List for the 2012 college football season, presented to the best defensive back in college football by the Jim Thorpe Association. Already a three-year starter in the Pitt secondary, Holley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) enters his final season with the Panthers looking to earn his third consecutive All-Big East honor. He was selected to the second team as a sophomore and earned first team honors last season as a junior. He was also a Big East All-Academic honoree. Holley was second on the team with 67 tackles, including five tackles for loss and two sacks last year. He added three pass breakups, one interception and a forced fumble, while starting all 13 games at safety. - Pitt football

07/18/2012 - 2012 BRONKO NAGURSKI TROPHY PRESEASON WATCH LIST: Jarred Holley, S, Pittsburgh, has been selected to the Preseason Bronko Nagurski Trophy Award Watch List for the 2012 college football season. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented to the National Defensive Player of the Year by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America. 06/28/2012 - Top-five Pittsburgh prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft: 3. FS Jared Holley (5-10, 190)...Considering the amount of attention that Graham and other offensive "skill" position players have generated it is easy to understand why Holley, a returning two-time All Big East selection, hasn't received more national fanfare. Holley enters his senior campaign having racked up nine career interceptions and has seen his tackle total rise each of his three starting seasons (48-54-67). He is a bit smaller than scouts would prefer and has to answer questions about his straight-line speed. He's a proven playmaker, however, with the intangibles coaches love at free safety, where many teams are searching for their leader in the secondary. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

01/06/2012 - A couple people have asked me about Jarred Holley and whether, because he has graduated, he is leaving to go to the NFL even though he has a year of eligibility left. He laughed when I asked him and said that he put his paperwork in with the NFL but hadn't yet got his evaluation back. He said unless he is blown away by what they tell him - in other words, he isn't expecting to hear he is going to be a first rounder or whatever - he will be back next year to finish his eligibility. - The Pittsburgh Post Gazette

12/19/2011 - 2011 ALL-BIG EAST CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): S Jarred Holley, Pittsburgh, Jr., has been selected All-BIG EAST Conference First Team for the 2011 college football season as chosen by the league's eight head coaches. Holley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), a junior safety, earned first team honors after being named to the All-Big East second team in 2010. Holley finished the regular season with 64 tackles, including five tackles for loss and two sacks. At Iowa, he recorded his ninth career interception and returned it 26 yards. He has also totaled three pass break-ups and has forced a fumble. - Pittsburgh football
