01/04/2013 - Penn State tackle Mike Farrell (Pittsburgh) and defensive end Sean Stanley (Rockville, Md.) have accepted invitations to play in all-star contests, raising the number of Nittany Lions playing in post-season games to five. Farrell has been invited to play in the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game in Tucson. The contest is Friday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. MT/9 p.m. ET on ESPN3 (webstream).

An honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and media, Farrell started every game this past season, with nine starts at right tackle and three at left tackle. He was instrumental in helping the Nittany Lions lead the Big Ten in total offense (437.0 ypg) in conference games and rank second in scoring offense (32.6 ppg) and second in pass offense (283.1 ypg) against Big Ten foes. Farrell helped Penn State gain more than 500 yards of total offense three times in conference play, topped by 546 yards against Indiana, its highest total against a Big Ten foe since gaining 557 yards against Michigan State in 2008. - Penn State football

01/02/2013 - Mike Farrell, a Penn State and Shady Side Academy graduate, will get a chance to make a favorable impression on NFL teams on Jan. 11. The 6-foot-6, 306-pound offensive tackle has been selected to play in the Casino del sol College All-Star game in Tucson, Ariz. Farrell is one of a handful of Penn State players who will suit up in a postseason All-Star game, joining defensive tackle Jordan Hill (Senior Bowl), outside linebacker Gerald Hodges (East-West Shrine Game), fullback Michael Zordich (NFLPA Collegiate Bowl) and quarterback Matt McGloin (Texas vs. Nation Game).

Farrell was an All-Big Ten honorable mention pick by the conference coaches and media after starting every game in 2012 and helping Penn State???s offense produce a 3,000-yard passer and a 1,000-yard rusher.
