12/22/2011 - Scouting the Arizona State run defense: ASU was average in this area, ranking 59th nationally by allowing 148.0 yards per game. Tackling was a problem late in the season, whether it was in the running or in stopping receivers after the catch. ASU allowed 247 rushing yards to Cal in the regular-season finale, and middle LB Vontaze Burfict stopped being a fearsome force as the season went on. Up front, DE Jamaar Jerrett (31 tackles, 5.5 for loss) and DT Bo Moos (32 tackles, seven for loss) earned honorable-mention all-conference honors. ASU will have to stop Boise State senior RB Doug Martin, who has 3,280 career yards with 42 touchdowns. - The Sports Xchange
Latest News
04/25/2012 - According to multiple league sources, there were six players who failed the NFL's drug test at the 2012 Scouting Combine. It had been previously reported by Jason LaCanfora of The NFL Network that Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams had tested positive for marijuana. Today, Jay Glazer of Fox, reported that Arizona State middle linebacker Vontaze Burfict and Virginia Tech cornerback Jayron Hosley had also been busted. NFLDraftScout.com has since confirmed these reports and can add that the Arizona State Sun Devils didn't just have one player test positive for a banned substance, but two, as defensive end Jamaar Jarrett also tested positive. The news isn't good for the 6-5, 265 pound Jarrett, who as NFLDraftScout.com's No. 34 rated defensive end and No. 439th rated prospect overall, was hardly viewed as a sure-fire draftable prospect in the first place. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
