04/25/2013 - ROB RANG'S FINAL 2013 NFL DRAFT BIG BOARD: 24. Kenny Vaccaro, FS, Texas: Instinctive, athletic and tough, Vaccaro has many of the traits scouts are looking for, though he showed less than ideal speed at the combine (4.63) and isn't a natural ball hawk. He does possess the versatility teams require in today's game, as Vaccaro has starred as an in-the-box run-stuffer, single-high cover safety and even demonstrated the fluidity to handle nickel responsibilities. He carries some character red flags, however, which teams will want to consider. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

04/25/2013 - DANE BRUGLER'S FINAL 2013 DRAFT BOARD: 25. S Kenny Vaccaro, Texas (6-0, 214, 4SR)...Although he needs to do a better job breaking down and finishing in space, Vaccaro has the physical nature and athleticism to cover in space and defend the run. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

03/29/2013 - 2013 Texas Pro Day: NFLDraftScout.com's top-rated safety Kenny Vaccaro wanted to run for scouts and improve his 40-yard dash time at the Texas Pro Day on Tuesday, but was limited due to a hip flexor injury. While he stood on his numbers from the combine, he did participate in positional drills, which were led by Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Vaccaro, who ran a 4.63 40-yard dash in Indianapolis, looked athletic during drills and battled through the hip injury, which he suffered during a private workout with the Dallas Cowboys last week. He showed excellent burst and reaction quickness with little hesitation in his movements. Vaccaro did nothing to hurt his status as the draft's top safety prospect and could be drafted in the top half of round one in April. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

03/29/2013 - 2013 Texas Pro Day: Representatives from 30 NFL teams gathered at Texas' pro day on Tuesday, where 12 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert, Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and defensive line coach Jay Hayes, and New York Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman were the notables on hand for the workout.

Unfortunately, Kenny Vaccaro - the top-rated safety in Mike Mayock???s draft position rankings - was limited at the pro day after tweaking a hip flexor during a private workout for an NFL team. Vaccaro won't do the runs or jump, but did go through the position drills. Vaccaro is a projected first-round draft pick. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

02/20/2013 - 2013 NFL Combine, Workout warriors: While he has room to be more consistent breaking down in space, Texas' Kenny Vaccaro has a versatile skill set to be effective against both the pass and the run. He plays fast with a reckless abandonment and wastes little time in his movements, something that should help him during both the agility and positional drills at the combine. Vaccaro is also expected to be one of the few safeties in this class to run under the 4.5 mark in the 40-yard dash. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

12/29/2012 - Scouting the Texas pass defense: Looking at the numbers, Texas has a solid pass defense, although that's partially due to the Big 12 opponents deciding that running the ball is a better policy. Carrington Byndom and Quandre Diggs are both playmakers in the defensive backfield, though both can get them into trouble with on-field gambles and Diggs in particular whiffs on the occasional tackle. Senior safety Kenny Vaccaro leads the team in tackles and is the quarterback in the secondary. - The Sports Xchange

12/10/2012 - 2012 ALL-BIG 12 FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DB Kenny Vaccaro, Texas, Sr., Brownwood, Texas/Early, has been selected First Team All-Big 12 Conference (Coaches selection) for the 2012 college football season. Vaccaro, who has a career-high 100 tackles, was a first-team choice by the AP last season. - Mack Brown Texas football

12/10/2012 - 2012 ALL-BIG 12 SECOND TEAM (MEDIA): Defensive back: Kenny Vaccaro, Texas, 6-1, 218, Sr., Brownwood, Texas, has been selected Second Team All-Big 12 Conference (Media selection) for the 2012 college football season. Vaccaro, who has a career-high 100 tackles, was a first-team choice by the AP last season. - Mack Brown Texas football

09/04/2012 - BIG 12: PLAYERS WHOSE NFL DRAFT STOCK IS RISING: Kenny Vaccaro, Texas: The Longhorn safety made two big impact plays in interceptions against Wyoming: the first was his own interception (see video below) and the second came off a Vacarro blitz that forced Wyoming QB Brett Smith to rush his throw, which was picked off by Carrington Byndom. "Kenny Vaccaro is a great player, he's not a good player. He can do some really good things to help us," Mack Brown said. - C.J. Moore, CBSSports.com

09/02/2012 - S Kenny Vaccaro picked off a pass in the second quarter, the fourth interception of his career.

08/30/2012 - Rob Rang's 08/30/12 Top 32 NFL Draft Big Board: 29. Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas: Vaccaro strongly considered entering the 2012 draft after a sparkling junior season in which he earned first-team all-Big 12 honors with 82 tackles, including two sacks and two interceptions. Instinctive, athletic and physical, he looks poised to join the long line of former standout defensive backs from Austin to earn a top-50 selection in the NFL Draft. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

08/05/2012 - NFL scouts loved Kenny Vaccaro after last season. One told me, "The best Longhorn in this year's draft would have been Vaccaro. He might have been a first-rounder with the way he can cover and the way he defends the run." Even Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz had his doubts about Vaccaro returning in 2012 after watching Vaccaro hurdle a Cal running back in the Holiday Bowl to record a sack - one of his 157 career tackles at UT. "I've got to be honest, when he jumped over the guy in the bowl game, I thought 'Uh oh,'" Diaz said. "I was like, 'That was great. But oh man.'" Even Kenny sounded like he might have made a mistake by not leaving early for the NFL when he discussed his decision to return to Texas for his senior year during spring football. "I actually think I probably should have (entered the draft), but I think I can up my stock," Vaccaro said. "I watch this year's safety class, I think I can compete with those guys." Vaccaro said in the spring he returned for his senior year to finish his degree, try to help Texas win a championship and possibly win the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. Vaccaro said becoming a father to a baby boy in the past year has changed his life. "I want to get my degree because the way I play I'm so reckless that I might knock myself out," Vaccaro said. "So I'm definitely going to get that insurance policy. Everything I do will help him (my son) in the future." - Chip Brown, Orangebloods.com

07/17/2012 - Top-five Texas prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft: 3. FS Kenny Vaccaro...With as talented a pass rush duo as the Longhorns boast, one can expect the television announcers this fall to focus on Okafor and Jeffcoat. But NFL scouts will be eyeing Vaccaro just as closely, as he offers the blend of size and athleticism that has helped six former UT defensive backs earn top 50 selections in the NFL draft since 2006. Like Okafor and Jeffcoat, Vaccaro saw playing time immediately, registering 19 tackles, a blocked punt and a forced fumble while serving as a backup safety and playing on special teams. Vaccaro emerged as a starter as a sophomore, registering 56 tackles, four tackles for loss and continued his big play ways by posting an interception, a forced fumble and another blocked kick. He also earned the team's special teams MVP award. Vaccaro emerged as arguably the best safety in the Big 12 a season ago, earning First Team all-conference honors by the league's coaches with 82 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, eight passes broken up and two interceptions. Possessing the prototype combination of size and athleticism to man the free or strong safety position in the NFL, Vaccaro strongly considered leaving Texas for the NFL after last season. Based on feedback I've received from league sources, Vaccaro likely would have earned a second-round selection had he left early and will compete for a spot amongst the top 32 this year. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

07/10/2012 - 2012 BEDNARIK AWARD PRESEASON WATCHLIST: Kenny Vaccaro, Texas, S, Sr., has been selected to the preseason Bednarik Award watchlist for the 2012 college football season. A former standout at Penn and with the Philadelphia Eagles, Chuck Bednarik is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame's Class of 1969 and the NFL Hall of Fame's Class of 1967. Vaccaro is a fourth-year defensive back who has appeared in 38 games with 19 career starts. He was chosen to the All-Big 12 first team (Coaches), second team (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) and honorable mention (AP) in 2011 and was honorable mention for Defensive Player of the Year (Coaches).
