04/25/2013 - 2013 NFL DRAFT: SIX GUYS WHO MAY SNEAK INTO THE FIRST ROUND: 6. Darius Slay, CB Mississippi State: Slay started out as the "other" corner opposite Johnthan Banks, but after running in the 4.3 range while Banks ran in the 4.6 range the tables have turned. A secondary coach told me, "I like both guys but there's more upside to Slay and in time has a chance to be a better pro." Slay was a late invite to New York for the draft and that means a late first/early second round spot for him. - Pat Kirwan, CBSSports.com

Darius Slay, CB (6-0, 192) - Slay did not work out in the positional drills after pulling a muscle running the 60-yard shuttle. Slay did manage to do a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump. Slay posted the the best 40-yard dash time (4.36) among defensive backs at the combine. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

01/01/2013 - Scouting the Mississippi State pass defense: MSU believes it has one of the best pass defenses in the country, but the numbers don't show it. Sure, the talent is there with All-American Johnthan Banks and senior Darius Slay, but a lack of communication and proper alignment has cost the Bulldogs dearly in recent weeks. MSU has allowed 233 passing yards or more in each of the last five games with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. - The Sports Xchange
