05/07/2014 - 2014 NFL Draft: 126 FBS programs, 126 possible UDFAs: CENTRAL MICHIGAN: RB Zurlon Tipton (6-0, 223, 4.72)...After 1,492 rushing yards and 19 scores as a junior, Tipton's senior season as cut short due to a broken ankle in the season opener, but he simply produces when healthy. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

11/29/2013 - Zurlon Tipton ran for four touchdowns on Friday to lead Central Michigan in a 42-10 victory over Eastern Michigan and become bowl eligible in the Mid-American Conference for the second-straight season. Tipton ran for 216 yards and scored back-to-back-to-back touchdowns in the first half to jump the Chippewas (6-6, 5-3) to a 21-0 lead. His third touchdown was on an 86-yard run and he finished the half with 134 yards.

Eastern Michigan (2-10, 1-7) drove down the field for 85 yards in 55 seconds to score its first touchdown, making the score 21-10, before the end of the first half. Central Michigan's Courtney Williams ran back the opening kickoff of the second half for an 84-yard touchdown, marking the Chippewas first kickoff return for a touchdown since January 6, 2010. 11/16/2013 - Zurlon Tipton rushed for 114 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Central Michigan to a 27-22 win over Western Michigan Saturday. Tipton, who had been out for most of the year after breaking his ankle in the season opener, scored from the 10 and the 1 to give the Chippewas (4-6, 3-3 Mid-American) a 14-0 lead. Western Michigan (1-10, 1-6) took the lead 16-14 with 7:37 remaining in the third on three Andrew Haldeman field goals and a 29-yard scoring run by Dareyon Chance.

Central Michigan regained the lead for good on a Mike Kinville-to-Cooper Rush touchdown pass. Tony Annesse returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown to push the lead to 27-16. The Broncos scored on a Brian Fields' 1-yard run after Cory Sueing forced a fumble, recovered by Austin Lewis. Western Michigan mounted another late drive but it stalled on Central Michigan's 26. - AP Sports

08/29/2013 - Despite their abundance of youth, the Chippewas are in a more comfortable place entering their opener against mighty Michigan, since last year's bowl game and having OL Eric Fisher chosen first in the NFL Draft has put some air under the program. RB Zurlon Tipton gives Central Michigan a running game to respect after he tacked up 100-yard performances in each of the last seven games of 2012. This is not yet a top tier program in the MAC, but it appears to be moving in that direction.

THIS WEEK'S GAME: at Michigan, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET. There are certain years where the stars align and the directional schools from the MAC are in position to at least give the big boys a scare in these early-season budget-balancing games, but this won't be one of those years. The Wolverines are too skilled, too strong, and too motivated to let something freaky happen, despite the fact the Chippewas have enough talent to at least be stubborn. If RB Zurlon Tipton gets stuffed by Michigan's revamped defensive front, then the Wolverines and gifted QB Devin Gardner could make this ugly. - The Sports Xchange

08/29/2013 - There might be no one single back more vital to his team's overall running game -- or the entire offense -- than Central Michigan RB Zurlon Tipton. Tipton had a huge junior season, rushing for at least 100 yards in each of the final seven games of 2012 and finishing the year with 1,492 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Chippewas go as far as he can carry them. - The Sports Xchange

08/27/2013 - PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2013: RB Zurlon Tipton solidified the offense, and the team, with his strong running in the second half of the 2012 season. Titpon ran wild in the second half, finishing with seven straight 100-yard games to conclude the season with nearly 1,500 yards rushing. Tipton's running brought a new dimension to the offense that was missing the last two years, and took some pressure off the passing games and opened up things for the wide receivers. - The Sports Xchange

07/19/2013 - 2013 DOAK WALKER AWARD WATCH LIST: Zurlon Tipton (Sr.), Central Michigan...The national recognition is the second the Detroit native has received this month and the third overall a CMU player has collected this preseason. Tipton, a senior, is also on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, an honor recognizing the nation's top college player. Earlier this week, junior wide receiver Titus Davis was selected as a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award. Tipton is the only running back from a Michigan school to be included on the Doak Walker Award Watch List.
