05/12/2014 - A closer look at the Falcon's picks: Round 3/68 - Dezmen Southward, S, 6-0, 211, Wisconsin...The Falcons released starting free safety Thomas DeCoud over the offseason and are counting on the athletic Southward to win the starting spot. 05/06/2014 - Five players who should be on the Buffalo Bills' draft radar...S Dezmen Southward, Wisconsin: Whaley said that the Bills were looking to promote from within to replace star free safety Jarius Byrd, who was lost to New Orleans in free agency. Whaley specifically mentioned youngsters Jonathan Meeks, Da'Norris Searcy and Duke Williams as possibilities to start alongside Aaron Williams, who was rewarded with a contract extension during the off-season. Should the athletic, instinctive and durable Southward remain on the board in the fourth round, however, the Bills might have to consider him. Like Williams, Southward is a versatile athlete who could develop into a standout with some technical refinement. He showed unique coverage skills while with the Badgers, showing not only the range to play the deep middle but also the agility and competiveness to occasionally drop down and handle slot duties. Some scouts see him as a potential press-corner conversion. He only played one year of high school football but showed steady improvement during his time in Madison and therefore his best football may be ahead of him. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

12/05/2013 - 2013 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION (MEDIA): Dezmen Southward,...Has been selected All-Big Ten Honorable Mention for the 2013 college football season as voted on by a select media panel and honors teams. - Wisconsin football

12/05/2013 - 2013 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Dezmen Southward,...Has been selected All-Big Ten Honorable Mention for the 2013 college football season as voted on by the Big Ten head football coaches. - Wisconsin football

09/13/2013 - Scouting the Wisconsin pass defense: Wisconsin's defense is currently tied for the national lead in scoring defense. Wisconsin entered the season with a suspect secondary, but two inferior opponents later, the Badgers still don't have an adequate measuring stick of their improvement. Expect Arizona State to test the secondary. - The Sports Xchange

08/14/2013 - OTHER WISCONSIN PROSPECTS WORTH WATCHING: FS Dezmen Southward (6-2, 214, 4.53)...The lone returning starter to the Wisconsin secondary, Southward finished fourth on the team last season with 69 total tackles, adding eight tackles for loss, five passes defended and his first career interception. He offers an athletic build with a good mix of speed and muscle to make plays close to the line of scrimmage and in the deep half of the field. He had a strong spring and it wouldn't be too surprising to see Southward emerge as one of the top safeties in the Big Ten. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
