11/29/2013 - Louisville WR Damian Copeland granted sixth year by NCAA...Louisville senior Damian Copeland will be allowed to return to the Cardinals in 2014, thanks to a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA. Copeland missed most of 2011 due to injury, but earned that year of eligibility back thanks to the NCAA's decision. According to Cardinals coach Charlie Strong, Copeland has not decided if he will return for a sixth year of college football.
"Just because he had an injury early in his career he was granted another year of eligibility, so he's got to decide if he'd like to come back or not," Strong said on Monday's teleconference via the Courier-Journal. "I haven't spoken about that...He's got to sit down with his family, and they'll make that decision."
Copeland leads the team with 49 catches and 655 yards through 11 games this season. He, like fellow Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker, will make a decision regarding the 2014 NFL Draft at the end of the season. Parker, a junior, is projected as a third or fourth round pick according to CBSSports.com's prospect rankings. - Chip Patterson, CBSSports.com
