12/29/2012 - Lehigh University's Ryan Spadola will get a chance to make an impression on one of the NFL's biggest stages. The senior wide receiver has been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 20-26 in Indianapolis, according to a message by Lehigh coach Andy Coen on Twitter. He will be the second Mountain Hawk to attend the event in three years, the other being offensive lineman Will Rackley, who was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Spadola, who is second in Lehigh history in career receiving yardage and receptions, caught 57 passes for 851 yards and four touchdowns during a senior season that was hampered by a bout with mononucleosis. Spadola was recently one of 20 FCS student-athletes named to the watch list for the Walter Payton Award, given to the outstanding player in the football championship subdivision. A preseason All-American and one of the top wide receivers in the FCS, Spadola followed a breakout sophomore campaign with an outstanding junior season, where he caught a school record 96 passes for a Lehigh and Patriot League record 1,614 yards. 07/25/2012 - 2012 PRESEASON PATRIOT LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Lehigh senior wide receiver Ryan Spadola caught 96 passes for a Patriot League-record 1,614 yards with 11 touchdowns last season for the Mountain Hawks, who won the Patriot League for the second year in a row and advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs. Spadola's 1,614 yards were the eighth-highest single-season total in FCS history. He finished his junior season ranked second in the FCS in receiving yards per game and sixth nationally in receptions per game. Spadola enters the 2012 season with career totals of 175 receptions, 2,760 yards and 20 touchdowns, putting him in range to finish among the top Patriot League wide receivers in each of the three categories. The two-time All-American is coming off a record-setting junior season in which he caught 96 passes for 1,614 yards and 11 touchdowns. This marks the second straight season in which Spadola was named to a Sports Network Preseason All-America team. This summer Spadola has already been tabbed as one of the top ten wide receivers in the FCS according to the Sports Network. He was also named to the College Football Performance Awards FCS Wide Receiver watch list. Spadola followed up a breakout sophomore campaign with an outstanding junior season in which he set a school record for receptions and established Lehigh and Patriot League record for receiving yards.
