11/27/2012 - 11/26/12 NFL DRAFT SCOUT FALLER: 2. T.J. Johnson, C, South Carolina...This year's senior crop of centers not only lacks a surefire first-round talent, but also depth in the middle rounds. Before the season, South Carolina senior T.J. Johnson was considered a center prospect who could be one of the first seniors drafted at his position, but upon further inspection, his physical limitations will hurt his pro potential. Against Clemson last Saturday, Johnson had a tough time anchoring and was exposed in space, struggling to mirror against linebackers or defensive linemen. He has shorter arms and lacks the strength to be effective unless he can square up his target, often lunging and sliding off defenders.

Johnson has also struggled with inconsistent hand placement this season, picking up several holding penalties including one against the Tigers. He is a smart player with excellent experience (school-record for career starts) and awareness, but his lack of length and strength will be a tough hurdle to jump in the eyes of scouts, likely pushing his draft value to the late rounds or free agency. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
