04/29/2012 - A closer look at the Eagles' picks: Round 2/46 - Mychal Kendricks, LB, 5-11 1/4, 239, California...Kendricks, who was the fastest linebacker at the scouting combine, played inside at Cal last year, but will be moved outside by the Eagles and given an opportunity to win the starting strong-side linebacker job as a rookie. The Eagles like his ability to cover and slow up tight ends. - The Sports Xchange

04/29/2012 - Linebacker Mychal Kendricks, the Eagles' second-round pick, is only 5-11 1/4. But he said his size never has been a problem. "It's never been an issue for me and it shouldn't be for anyone else," he said. - The Sports Xchange

04/27/2012 - LB Mychal Kendricks, California -- All of a sudden, the Eagles' LB corps has gone from defined weakness to underlined strength. Kendricks can play inside or outside, runs in the 4.47 range and hits with a purpose. He'll pair nicely with newcomer DeMeco Ryans.

04/23/2012 - Kendricks said he was pleased but not stunned by his 40 time at the combine. But the fastest in 12 years by a linebacker? "Now that's what surprised me," he said. "That feels great." Kendricks acknowledged he has taken the pre-draft process seriously. He paid extra attention to every detail -- from training to his eating and sleeping habits to his focus. Tedford is impressed by that mature approach. "They'll be getting a guy who is giving his all, a guy who is very serious, who likes to compete," Tedford said. "He can do a lot of things. He can cover. He's really good at coming off the edge. Now whether he can come off the edge against NFL tackles is yet to be seen," Tedford said. "But speed is the name of the game. From everything I hear, there's a lot of interest in him." Kendricks won't speculate on who might pick him or how high in the draft he'll be selected. "Anything could happen," he said. "I'm pretty happy with the way things are going things so far." - Jeff Faraudo, San Jose Mercury News

04/19/2012 - LITTLE BIG MEN: THE BEST UNDERSIZED PLAYERS IN THIS YEAR'S DRAFT: Mychal Kendricks, LB, California: Even when I was done watching a few of his game tapes I reached for more just because I enjoyed watching him play. He measured at 5-foot-11, 239 pounds and plays like a guy 6-4, 250. His 39 ??' vertical and 10-7 broad jump are evident on tape as he explodes on every play. He is extremely difficult to block and in reality rarely even acknowledges the blocker while in pursuit of the ball. He regularly passes most of his teammates to the ball carrier. For those who think he's a liability in coverage, watch some more tape. He is comfortable in man coverage on backs and good in his key and diagnoses in zone drops. In the middle he is unblockable. On the edge he routinely took on 300-pound guards and beat them. In the last three years he has been in on 245 tackles, 14 sacks, and four interceptions. He is the shortest linebacker in the draft and I say, so what. He's a damn good football player. - Pat Kirwan, CBSSports.com

04/12/2012 - Cal linebacker Mychal Kendricks is scheduled to visit the Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams and the Atlanta Falcons this week. The 5-foot-11, 240-pound Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds at the NFL scouting combine. He also bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times, registered a 39 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 10-7 broad jump and a 4.19 in the 20-yard shuttle. He has drawn second-round grades from draft analysts. At his campus Pro Day workout, he improved his 20-yard shuttle to 4.14 seconds and posted a 6.68 three-cone drill. Kendricks' father was a running back at UCLA who led the Bruins in rushing twice. Kendricks recorded 106 tackles, 14 1/2 for losses, one sack, a forced fumble, an interception returned for a touchdown and two fumble recoveries. A three-year starter, Kendricks has dealt with shoulder and thumb injuries in the past. For his career, the all-conference linebacker had 258 tackles, 36 1/2 for losses, 13 1/2 sacks, seven fumble recoveries, four interceptions, five pass deflections and a blocked punt. As a junior, Kendricks was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection. -- The Sports Xchange

04/03/2012 - NFL DRAFT CONCERNS: ILB Mychal Kendricks, Cal: Of the six players listed in this report, if Kendricks scores as poorly on the Wonderlic as I've been told scouts expect based on his struggles on the white board during team interviews, his stock could drop significantly. Teams hold inside linebackers to a higher standard than many other positions when it comes to intelligence. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

03/16/2012 - NFL Draft Scout Top Inside linebackers: Mychal Kendricks, California, 5-11, 240, 2-3...At the scouting combine, Kendricks showed there was more to him than first appearance may indicate. His name, for example, is really Marvin Mychal-Christopher Kendricks. The Marvin is from his father, whose name some may remember as the leading rusher at UCLA in 1970-71. Mychal showed decent versatility in college, starting two years at outside linebacker, then moving inside last year in dramatic style. But scouts at the combine still had a "show-me" perspective on Kendricks, especially after he measured only 5-11??. But he looked bigger by the moment as he benched 225 pounds 24 times, ran 40 yards in an unofficial 4.47 and added a vertical jump of 39.5 inches. That sent scouts back to double-check tapes, which showed how Kendricks used all that athleticism to earn Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2011. He had a team-leading 106 tackles, 14.5 for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception (returned for touchdown) and two fumble recoveries. There are some concerns, including an injured shoulder and thumb last year and two suspensions for violating team rules. But it still looks like he hasn't played his last season at inside linebacker. - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange/NFLDraftScout.com

12/28/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: ILB Mychal Kendricks is the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and is the team's big-play defender. He has 13 tackles for losses and two interceptions, plus he had two fumble recoveries. He played half the season with a cast on his hand after having thumb surgery midway through the year. He needs to apply some pressure on Texas quarterbacks. - The Sports Xchange

10/06/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: ILBs D.J. Holt and Mychal Kendricks - If Cal is to control Oregon TB LaMichael James, both have to have big games. Both did have big games last season against the Ducks, which is part of the reason Cal nearly pulled off the upset. They have to make all the right decisions on Oregon's option play, because one mistake could mean a touchdown run for Darron Thomas or James. - The Sports Xchange

09/23/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: ILB Mychal Kendricks - The Bears desperately need to apply pressure on Washington QB Keith Price, and Kendricks is probably the guy who will have to do it. If Kendricks produces two or three big plays - whether they are sacks, interceptions or fumble recoveries - the Bears have an excellent chance to win. - The Sports Xchange

09/23/2011 - ILB Mychal Kendricks was not in the starting lineup and did not play the first defensive series in week 3 because he broke an unspecified team rule. - The Sports Xchange

09/09/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: ILB Mychal Kendricks had 1.5 sacks against Colorado last year, and you can bet defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast will try to find ways to get him to the quarterback this time as well. Kendricks is the team's active career leader in tackles (161), tackles for loss (24.5), sacks (11) and fumble recoveries (5). - The Sports Xchange

09/09/2011 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: The loss of three of the team's best defenders to the NFL - S Chris Conte, DE Cam Jordan and LB Mike Mohamed - did not seem to hurt Cal a bit in the opener, when the defense was outstanding. Mychal Kendricks' move from outside linebacker to the inside, where he played two years ago, seems to have been a success. He had nine tackles, including 2.5 for losses in the opener. Cal's pass rush is one of its strengths, and the Bears got solid play out of its front three, which was a question. Cal CBs Steve Williams and Marc Anthony played well in the opener, and their play may be the key to the team's defensive success. - The Sports Xchange

09/03/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: OLB Mychal Kendricks received the most preseason accolades for Cal, primarily because of his ability to make big plays. Last season he had 15 tackles for losses, an interception and three fumble recoveries. - The Sports Xchange
