01/03/2013 - University of Toledo linebacker Dan Molls, the national leader in tackles during the recent season, has accepted an invitation to play in the Texas vs The Nation postseason all-star game. The game, which will feature more than 100 draft-eligible players, is scheduled for Feb. 2 at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas. According to the game's Web site, more than 100 participants over the past five years have been selected in the NFL draft and more than 500 have signed with an NFL team.
Molls, whose final collegiate game ended last month when he suffered a concussion on the opening kickoff of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, posted 166 tackles this season. "I'm happy Danny gets to play one more college football game and show what he can do as a football player," Toledo coach Matt Campbell said. "His career certainly lends himself the opportunity to play at the next level, and I think this experience will let that happen."
Campbell added senior safety Jermaine Robinson, who has drawn interest from the next level, has not received an invite to a postseason game. Campbell also said juniors David Fluellen and Bernard Reedy, who are entertaining the thought of turning pro, have not yet received feedback from the NFL advisory committee. Toledo's pro day is scheduled for March 12. - The Toledo Blade
12/15/2012 - Scouting the run defense: The Rockets have allowed 168 rushing yards per game and 14 rushing touchdowns this season. Their run stopping is led by senior LB Dan Molls, the nation's leading tackler. Utah State averages nearly 200 yards rushing per game, so the Aggies will test the Toledo defenders and hope to use the run to set up their very effective passing attack. Utah State senior RB Kerwynn Williams had more than 1,200 yards on the ground this season and scored 12 rushing touchdowns. - The Sports Xchange
12/15/2012 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: LB Dan Molls led the nation in tackles this season with 166 and had 10 games this year with 13 or more stops. He takes the lead role in stuffing Utah State's rushing attack and forcing the Aggies to become more predictable. Molls will need to use the blitz more as Toledo faces a very strong passing attack from Utah State. - The Sports Xchange
12/02/2012 - 2012 ALL-MAC FIRST TEAM: Inside Linebacker - Dan Molls, Toledo, has been selected First Team All-Mid-American Conference for the 2012 college football season. Molls, who earned third-team All-MAC honors as a sophomore in 2010, leads the nation in tackles with 166, and has had at least 13 tackles in 10 games this season. - Toledo football
11/20/2012 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: Toledo saw its defense essentially fall apart in the second half of the loss at Northern Illinois that ultimately cost the Rockets a MAC West Division title and a shot at the conference championship game. Toledo gave up 24 unanswered points in the second half of that game, and allowed Northern Illinois to throw for nearly 300 yards in the third quarter alone. Lowly Akron will hardly present the same type of challenge as Northern Illinois did, but if they expect to entice a bowl committee to send them an invite, the Rockets will need to show some defensive resolve against the Zips. PLAYERS TO WATCH: LB Dan Molls has 16 straight games with nine or more tackles, and leads the nation with 148 stops in 11 games. - The Sports Xchange
11/20/2012 - Head coach Matt Campbell is convinced his Rockets will be rewarded for their body of work, which includes pushing Arizona to overtime on the road in the season-opener, and an eight-game winning streak that included a victory over then-unbeaten Cincinnati. "We've made great strides, and our senior leadership has been unbelievable this season, Campbell said. "We have played in some unbelievable environments. We've played in some tough football games. The one thing you can say about our Toledo Rockets is they never quit. We will not quit. We will be back. We'll be back because our senior leadership will bring us back."
Senior linebacker Dan Molls was in lockstep with his head coach and that line of thinking, which he hopes puts the Rockets in a bowl game after they close the season against Akron. "This Rocket football team is not done," Molls said. "There are a lot of things we can still accomplish this season. We're not quitting. The way this team and this defense played in the fourth quarter, the way we finished, that's how you're going to see us finish this season." - The Sports Xchange
11/14/2012 - Toledo goes back to DeKalb this year, just after a stunning home loss to Ball State knocked the Rockets from the ranks of the unbeaten inside the MAC, and put them in a must-win situation at Northern Illinois. The two powerhouse programs meet for the third straight season to ultimately decide the MAC West championship, with the Huskies owning wins in the last two meetings. "We're not going to make excuses about why we can't go out there and win a football game," Toledo senior LB Dan Molls said. "Unfortunately, we have to make a long trip. We have to play them in their stadium. But that's how it goes." While Toledo comes in staggered by the loss to Ball State and needing wins over Northern Illinois and lowly Akron in the final two weeks to win the West title, Northern Illinois is red hot, having won nine straight games after an 18-17 loss to Iowa to start the season. "We're going to have to prepare better than we have before and we're just going to have to come out ready to play with an extreme amount of focus," Molls said. "We have the guys that can do it and we have the senior leadership that can get us in the right spot to win that football game." - The Sports Xchange

11/06/2012 - THIS WEEK'S GAME: Ball State at Toledo, Nov. 6 The Rockets (8-1, 5-0 in the MAC) need to win to keep pace with MAC West Division co-leader Northern Illinois. At 3-2 in the league, the Cardinals will be fighting to stave off elimination in the division title race. KEYS TO THE GAME: Toledo will need a performance from its defense that is similar to what the Rockets produced recently, when they handed Cincinnati its first loss of the season. Contain the proven and effective Ball State rushing attack, and the Rockets should have the upper hand in this one. Toledo is the more explosive team, with the capability of making the game-changing play. PLAYERS TO WATCH: LB Dan Molls, who leads the nation with about 13 tackles per game, picked up a fumble and took it back for a touchdown in last week's win at Buffalo. QUOTE TO NOTE: "Don't get me wrong, the last two weeks have been huge team wins, but it was just nice to have a little bit more on our shoulders to really carry this team to victories."
