03/29/2013 - 2013 SMU Pro Day: Ja'Gared Davis, LB (6-0, 238) - Davis ran the 40 in 4.82 seconds against the wind and 4.78 seconds with the wind. He had a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-9 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.42 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.26 seconds. He also had 14 strength lifts. 12/24/2012 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: SMU defenders Ja'Gared Davis and Taylor Reed have been impact players since arriving on the Hilltop. Davis, who was on the Butkus Award Watch List, is a three-time All-Conference USA selection. With 18.5 career sacks, Davis ranks 18th among all active players and his 39 TFL also rank 18th among actives. 12/12/2012 - 2012 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FIRST TEAM (COACHES): LB-Ja'Gared Davis, Sr., SMU, has been selected First Team All-Conference USA (Coaches selection) for the 2012 college football season. Davis, a senior linebacker, is third on the team in tackles (71) and solo tackles (45), and ranks second with nine TFL, including two sacks. He has notched two interceptions, forced three fumbles and recovered two fumbles.
Davis was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week after a dominant performance in the win over Tulsa when he forced and recovered a fumble, and made an interception. He was huge in SMU's win over SFA, recording nine tackles, a sack, 1.5 TFL and a 34-yard fumble return for a TD. Davis also returned an interception for a TD at UTEP, his fifth career score (three fumble returns, a blocked FGA return and an interception return). - SMU football
11/26/2012 - WEEK 13 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Playing in his school-record-tying 52nd career game, SMU senior LB Ja'Gared Davis did a little bit of everything in leading SMU to a 35-27 victory over Tulsa that made the school bowl eligible for a school-record fourth consecutive season. The linebacker blocked a punt to set up the game's first score and then forced and recovered a fumble to set up the second touchdown. Davis followed that by intercepting a pass to set up SMU's third TD drive. He finished the game with seven tackles and two-and-a-half tackles for loss. - Conference USA football

10/18/2012 - KEYS TO THE GAME: The Mustangs direly need a strong start. The offense has enough struggles without the pressure of a comeback. But slow starts have been the norm. SMU has been outscored in the first quarter 38-6 this season. The Mustangs could benefit from a moving pocket. Garrett Gilbert is not known for his mobility, but he's adequate. 10/07/2012 - LB Ja'Gared Davis returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. It was his second TD of the season and fifth of his career, but the first on an interception.
10/06/2012 - Ja'Gared Davis stepped in front of a Nick Lamaison pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to help lead SMU to a 17-0 victory Saturday over UTEP. Davis' touchdown came with 1:52 remaining in the first half. It was the last score of the night for SMU (2-3, 1-0 Conference USA) and was one of three forced turnovers by the Mustangs defense. Zach Line barely missed his chance at a 17th career 100-yard rushing game as a Mustang, but was still a workhorse for SMU with 84 yards on 25 carries. Garrett Gilbert completed 22 of 44 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown, finding Darius Johnson on a 40-yard strike at the 9:42 mark in the second quarter. Reed, who enters 2012 on the Lombardi Award Watch List, was All-C-USA in 2011 and on the All-CUSA Freshman Team in 2009. He led SMU with 101 tackles last season, including 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. It marked the second straight season he led SMU in stops. Davis, who is on the Butkus Award Watch List, is a two-time All-Conference USA selection.
