S Earl Wolff, NC State (5111, 206 -- East Team)...Playing in a secondary with David Amerson and Brandon Bishop at NC State, Wolff seemed to be overlooked by many, but for those who watched the East practice, it was tough to ignore the impact he made on the field. He showed good plant-and-drive quickness to diagnose the play and attack ballcarriers in front of him. This year, for the first time under the auspices of the ACC, the league's 12 head football coaches voted for an All-ACC football team.

Wolff currently leads the Pack with 136 tackles on the season, and his current career total of 391 is fifth all-time at NC State. Wolff had a career-best 19 tackles at Clemson, and has four games of at least 17 tackles this season. 09/10/2012 - WEEK 2 ACC DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK: Earl Wolff, NC State, Sr.,S, 6-0, 207, Raeford, N.C.,...Wolff tallied seven stops (including five first hits or solos) in the 10-7 road win over UConn, even though he played just three quarters after leaving with an injury. He picked off the fifth pass of his career in the second half with UConn driving when Wolff caught the interception at midfield and returned it 16 yards. The senior made perhaps the biggest play of the game on defense in the third quarter when he recovered a fumble that Brandan Bishop forced with NC State leading 3-0. That gave the Pack the ball at the UConn 41 and three plays later, State scored its only touchdown of the afternoon. - ACC football

07/27/2012 - 2012 PRESEASON ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE PRESEASON TEAM (MEDIA): S Earl Wolff, NC State (30), has been selected Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference football for the 2012 college football season by the ACC media. Wolff was a 2011 All-ACC nominee who finished the season ranked second on the PAck in tackles with 113. He led the team in tackles versus Wake Forest (10) and Central Michigan (12), and he had double-figure tackle totals in five contests.
