12/13/2012 - 2012 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DL-Michael Brooks, Sr., East Carolina, has been selected Second Team All-Conference USA (Coaches selection) for the 2012 college football season. Brooks, despite being limited to 10 games because of injury, still ranks second among all Pirate defensive linemen with 34 tackles. He has also recorded 3.5 tackles for lost yardage, a pair of sacks, three quarterback hurries and an interception.

Brooks began his season as the starting nose tackle, but has recently contributed as the starting defensive end in five of the last six games. He finished strong in recording six tackles and a sack against both Tulane and Marshall over the final two games, while also netting his second career interception off a tipped pass. - East Carolina football

He was credited with five or more stops in six contests (eight/Virginia Tech, six/North Carolina, five/Navy, five/UTEP, seven/UCF, five/Marshall) and tied for the squad lead, and set a single-season career best, with 5.5 tackles for lost yardage (-19 yards).
