03/16/2013 - 2013 Cal PA Pro Day: California (Pa.) FS Rontez Miles looks like mid-round possibility...Representatives from 13 NFL teams gathered at the pro day held at California University of Pennsylvania on March 11, where Rontez Miles - who participated at the NFL Scouting Combine - was the key attraction at a workout held outdoors.

Miles (5-foot-11 7/8, 203 pounds), a free safety, ran the short shuttle in 4.15 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.85 seconds. Due to windy conditions, Miles opted not to run the 40-yard dash after his agent advised him that he ran well enough in the 40 at the combine (officially 4.62 seconds). Miles is a mid-round pick possibility in the 2013 NFL Draft. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

11/16/2012 - 2012 PSAC WEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Rontez Miles, DB, California...Miles became the first player to repeat as PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons since 2002-03. A four-time All-PSAC West selection, he set a career high and tied for the team lead with 75 tackles (43 solo) and also led the team with four interceptions. - California (PA) football

09/02/2012 - The Vulcans earned a 30-22 victory against No. 17 Hillsdale on Thursday in their season-opener ... The win was the first under head coach Mike Kellar, who is now 3-0 all-time as a head coach in season-openers ... It also marked the first Cal U home victory in a season-opener since 2008 (West Chester) ... The Vulcans earned their first win against a nationally-ranked team since Sept. 2010 (Saginaw Valley) ... Junior Trey Johnson, a former running back, set career highs in receptions, yards and touchdowns after making his first career start at wide receiver ... Senior preseason All-American Rontez Miles led the defense with 11 tackles and made a pass break-up in the end zone as time expired to preserve the victory ... Senior QB Peter Lalich passed for 275 yards and four touchdowns in the victory, including 205 yards and three scores in the first half ... Cal U will face No. 12 Kutztown on Saturday, marking the first time the Vulcans will open a season with two-straight Top 25 opponents since 2008 ... The Vulcans will also open the year against a pair of defending league champions (Hillsdale/GLIAC, Kutztown/PSAC) - PSAC football

08/06/2012 - Defending PSAC East and overall champion Kutztown has been picked to win the Eastern Division while California and IUP have been chosen as co-favorites to win the PSAC West. This marks the seventh straight season that the Vulcans have been picked as at least a co-favorite in the PSAC West, while IUP is a favorite for the first time since 2003. In the PSAC East, Kutztown, fresh off its first PSAC Championship in school history, is the favorite for the first time in preseason poll history. Their previous best place in a preseason poll was second-done twice. The Golden Bears are coming off not only their first PSAC Championship, but also just their second PSAC East championship in program history. After sharing the title with LIU Post last year, the Golden Bears will be looking for their first-ever outright PSAC East title as they look to repeat as overall conference champions. Kutztown, which also appeared in the NCAA playoffs for the second straight year and for just the second time overall in 2011, will be looking to get back to the "State Game" for just the third time in program history. California, which also appeared in the NCAA playoffs last season for the fifth straight year-which is the fifth-longest current streak in Division II-won at least a share of the Western Division for the seventh straight season in 2011 but lost out on a tiebreaker to Slippery Rock for the right to advance to the PSAC championship game. - Pennsylvania State football

05/22/2012 - 2013 DRAFT TOP SMALL SCHOOL PROSPECTS: FS Rontez Miles, California (PA) (6-0, 210): Despite being recruited by several SEC programs, Miles originally enrolled at Kent State in order to play with his stepbrother. But that didn't last long as poor grades and distractions put his football career on hold, transferring to California (PA) after a year at a community college. Miles is a four-year starter for the Vulcans, leading the team with five interceptions last season and earning several All-American honors. Miles has 17 career pass break-ups with 20.5 tackles for loss, showing his ability to be effective in the deep half of the field and near the line of scrimmage. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
