05/13/2014 - Packers signed 12 rookie free agents: Rettig, 22, threw for 8,263 yards and 52 TDs with 39 INTs on 685-of-1,242 passing (55.2 percent) during his career, one of just four QBs in school history to eclipse the 8,000-yard passing mark. He finished his career ranked fourth in BC annals in passing yards, fourth in TD passes, third in completions and fourth in attempts. As a junior in 2012, Rettig became just the fourth QB in school history to post a 3,000-yard passing season, throwing for 3,065 yards and 17 TDs. - Green Bay Packers

05/12/2014 - Later Saturday night, the Packers reportedly signed Chase Rettig, a four-year starting quarterback at Boston College, as an undrafted free agent. That would give Green Bay four quarterbacks going into the meat of the offseason workouts: Rodgers, Matt Flynn, Scott Tolzien and Rettig. - The Sports Xchange

05/07/2014 - 2014 NFL Draft: 126 FBS programs, 126 possible UDFAs: BOSTON COLLEGE: QB Chase Rettig (6-2, 215, 4.99)...Although his touch and mechanics are a mess, especially for a four-year starter, Rettig has the size and arm strength needed for the next level and could be a pet project for a coaching staff. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

01/24/2014 - Boston College quarterback Chase Rettig, Louisville runner Sanorise Perry and Oklahoma State receiver Tracy Moore are among the latest group of players to commit to The College All Star Bowl. The game for college seniors will take place February 14th at Furman's Paladin Stadium in Greenville. Rettig was fifth in Atlantic Coast Conference pass efficiency this past season, throwing for 1,995 yards and 17 touchdowns. Perry was Louisville's second leading rusher with 677 yards and six touchdowns. Moore caught 51 passes for 738 yards and six TDs. His receptions were the second most for the Cowboys this season. Bowl officials say they have 97 players committed out of the 100 they plan to get to make up the two teams. - AP Sports

12/31/2013 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: Boston College QB Chase Rettig, a senior, thrives on efficiency. He doesn't have to be a high-volume passer in the Eagles' offense, and coach Steve Addazio appreciates the way Rettig has been unselfish and resilient. He has completed 146 of 237 passes for 1,804 yards, with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions. - The Sports Xchange

09/11/2013 - Scouting the Boston College passing game: Chase Rettig sounded relieved that he only had to throw 14 passes in the second straight win. In other words, the pressure has been taken off -- the pressure to do everything for the offense, that is. He has found Alex Amidon 18 times in two games, and the opposition has to figure out a way to stop that. But the key here is developing confidence in other receivers. A 22-yard touchdown pass to Spiffy Evans last week was a good start. - The Sports Xchange

09/11/2013 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Chase Rettig had what amounted to a night off in the Wake win. He threw the ball just 14 times, completing seven, with five of those to top receiver Alex Amidon. Rettig, a senior playing for his fifth offensive coordinator, seems comfortable in the new attack, which so far has produced a lot more protection. - The Sports Xchange

09/09/2013 - Boston College could make some noise, while there's hardly enough evidence filed to suggest that there's a full turnaround in coach Steve Addazio's first season. But a 2-0 start is something to take note of. "I think it's awesome to be 2-0," QB Chase Rettig said. "It just gives credit to how hard we're working." Now the Eagles own an Atlantic Division victory and it will hold a perch atop the division listing for at least a few weeks until its next two ACC games come Sept. 28 against Florida State and Oct. 12 at Clemson. - The Sports Xchange

09/06/2013 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: Senior quarterback Chase Rettig, who threw for 3,065 yards last year, and senior wide receiver Alex Amidon, an All-ACC first-team honoree who set school records for receptions (78) and receiving yards (1,215), picked up right where they left off in 2012. Amidon caught a career-high 13 Chase Rettig passes for 146 yards and one touchdown (a 22-yard touchdown strike was called back because of a penalty), and Rettig finished the day completing 23-of-30 passing attempts for 285 yards and two touchdowns. - Boston College football

09/06/2013 - GAME REWIND: Boston College 24, Villanova 10. The Eagles had a tussle with Villanova before securing the victory in the first game under coach Steve Addazio. Chase Rettig threw two touchdown passes and Andre Williams helped balance the offense with 114 rushing yards for Boston College, which didn't allow a point after the first quarter and scored all of the game's 17 second-half points. TAKEAWAY: The Eagles don't have the makeup or the background to be overwhelming opponents on their schedule, and even a FCS foe such as Villanova provided challenging moments. But the Eagles also have a decent stock of skill players and those were some of the guys who came through in the opener.

They'll need more from quarterback Chase Rettig, who seemed to do better with more play-action opportunities in the second half. "Our first goal was to win the opener," Addazio said. The good part for the Eagles was that it took some improvising and adjustments along the way. They weren't able to overpower Villanova and they had to figure out how to get the job done. They probably learned more about their team than many teams in the opening week. - The Sports Xchange

08/22/2013 - MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER: QB Chase Rettig - Doesn't it always come down to the quarterback? It seems to, and the Eagles have a senior with a great arm in Chase Rettig, who is playing for his fifth offensive coordinator and was receiving high marks for leadership. He has thrown 35 career touchdown passes but has also been picked off 31 times, a ratio that has to improve for this team to have a chance. Rettig trails only Doug Flutie, Glenn Foley and Matt Ryan on BC's career passing yardage list. - The Sports Xchange

08/22/2013 - Whenever there's a new coaching staff, the term "buying in" always seems to come to the fore; and there's no difference here. New systems on both sides of the ball, and for the offense it's the fifth system in four years, this one set to be up-tempo. That's a lot of ask, but when you have a senior quarterback people think has a pro arm, that's a good place to start. If Chase Rettig can get the offense, anemic the past two years, going, and if the defense can, as coordinator Don Brown says, attack "like their hair's on fire," there will be some success. - The Sports Xchange

08/22/2013 - QB Chase Rettig, playing for his fifth offensive coordinator in four years, is clearly the key to the BC offense under new coach Steve Addazio. The new staff is counting on Rettig, both for production and leadership. "He's been great. He's done a great job with it," said Addazio. "He's really one of the guys, but yet he'll challenge them. And he's held himself accountable. I really believe it's not about Chase. I really believe that it's sincere with this guy that it's about the team. I think that our seniors really want to win for Boston College and want our team to have success as opposed to it has to be great for me, it's my senior year." - The Sports Xchange

08/14/2013 - 2013 JOHNNY UNITAS GOLDEN ARM AWARD WATCHLIST: Chase Rettig, Boston College,...Started all 12 games at quarterback in 2012... became BC's fourth 3,000-yard passer in program history with 3,065 passing yards on the year; nearly matched his passing total from his first two seasons combined (3,198 passing yards) ... compiled 253 completions on 467 passing attempts (54.2 completion percentage) and 17 passing touchdowns on the year ... tallied a touchdown pass in all but two games. - Boston College football

06/27/2013 - TOP BOSTON COLLEGE PROSPECTS: 2. QB Chase Rettig (6-3, 213, 4.87)...Rettig was forced into the starting role in the fourth game of his true freshman season and has started 33 games at quarterback since 2010. He has adequate height and body build for the position and has all the arm strength needed for the next level, displaying sharp velocity as the ball appears to shoot off his arm. Rettig has improved his footwork in the pocket to step up and avoid pressure, but he is a limited athlete and his lower half is too inconsistent in his throwing motion.

He has a bad habit of staring down his targets and not effectively using his eyes to hold defenders with questionable field vision, struggling to see all 11 defenders. Rettig needs to develop better pocket awareness to protect against blindside pressure and improve his internal clock. He has a quick delivery but forces too many passes, and his accuracy is average at best (53.4 percent career completions at BC). - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

06/27/2013 - PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2013: QB Chase Rettig threw for over 3,000 yards as a junior but is facing the task of working with another new offensive coordinator, his fourth. Rettig, under siege much of the time and with a shaky running game, seemed to tire at the end of the season, absorbing eight sacks against Virginia Tech and going just 16-for-45 with three interceptions in the finale against North Carolina State. - The Sports Xchange
