10/01/2013 - It's getting lost in his team's struggles, but South Florida running back Marcus Shaw is having an all-conference caliber season. Shaw ran for 127 yards in the 49-21 loss to the Hurricanes. He has 525 yards through four games and is on pace to break the school's season record of 1,374 set by Andre Hall in 2005. Note that last year, Demetris Murray led the Bulls with 665 yards on the ground. - The Sports Xchange
09/30/2013 - WEEK 5 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE HONOR ROLL: Marcus Shaw, Jr., RB, USF, Arcadia, Fla.,...Rushed for a game-high 127 yards on 20 carries in a 49-21 loss to No. 15/15 Miami (Fla.). Had 100 yards by halftime for the third time in four games. - American Athletic Conference football
09/16/2013 - South Florida fell to 0-3 despite a strong performance to the defense. The culprit? An offense that fails to live by the Hippocratic Oath. Far from doing no harm, the Bulls offense continued to cost the team in both field position and points. In Saturday's 28-10 loss to Florida Atlantic, the Owls scored first by returning a Bobby Eveld fumble for a touchdown, and finished the scoring on a 75-yard interception return. That marks five times in three games that USF opponents have scored defensive touchdowns.
Coach Willie Taggart changed quarterbacks again, moving Steven Bench into the lineup in place of Evald in the Hurd offensive series. Bench looked better, but only because the bar was set so low. Going 8 for 23 for 128 yards, a touchdown and an interception won't win many games.
Making it particularly disappointing is that the Bulls are getting a top-notch running game in the form of Marcus Shaw. Shaw ran for 159 yards against FAU, the second time this season he's been over 100. The only game he's been held to double digits was against Michigan State -- and even there, he ran for 94. As Taggart noted postgame, that shows the problem can't be foisted off onto the offensive line. The line has been good enough this season to open holes for gainers on the ground. But the passing game has been a mess, and until that changes it's tough to see things getting much better for the Bulls. - The Sports Xchange

09/12/2013 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: Senior RB Marcus Shaw, who got the 2013 season going on a high note with an 80-yard run on his first carry a week earlier, logged heavy duty in the loss at Michigan State. He had a career-high 23 rushing attempts for 94 yards and is USF's lone hope in the running game. - The Sports Xchange
09/12/2013 - Scouting the South Florida running game: After gaining 80 yards on the first play from scrimmage in the opener, USF has not been able to mount any consistent attack. Though RB Marcus Shaw rushed for 94 yards at Michigan State, his backup, RB Michael Pierre added only 15 on five runs, and yardage lost on sacks (20) and other plays limited the Bulls' team total to just a net 89 yards on the ground. - The Sports Xchange
08/12/2013 - OTHER SOUTH FLORIDA PROSPECTS WORTH WATCHING: RB Marcus Shaw (5-9, 182, 4.46)...Quick, explosive and versatile runner who, as a junior, rushed 51 times, caught eight passes and returned 10 kicks, for 527 all-purpose yards. - Derek Stephens, NFLDraftScout.com
