As a second team honoree, Alecxih (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) is one of Pitt's most disruptive players on defense. The senior defensive tackle is fourth on the team in tackles with 54, recording 13.5 tackles for loss for minus-56 yards, and has 5.5 sacks. Alecxih has also five quarterback hurries, broken up four passes and has forced two fumbles. His first career interception came against Buffalo with a 47-yard return. - Pittsburgh football

10/26/2011 - DT Chas Alecxih apologized for post-game remarks in which he labeled Utah offensive lineman John Cullen and his teammates "dirty" players. "I want to apologize for some of my comments after the game," Alecxih said. "I was pretty fired up and I'm a pretty emotional guy at times and I have a tendency to say what's on my mind without thinking of the consequences." - The Sports Xchange

09/21/2011 - DT Chas Alecxih suffered an ankle injury and, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, said it might have been the result of an Iowa player leaning on it after the whistle blew. QUOTE TO NOTE: "We took our foot off their throats," he said. "(Iowa) fought to the very end, and we gave it away." - Pitt senior DT Chas Alecxih, quoted in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, after blowing a 21-point lead at Iowa. - The Sports Xchange

09/21/2011 - KEEP AN EYE ON: The on-field leadership of the Panthers. Blame was being placed in a lot of areas for blowing a three-touchdown lead at Iowa. "It's leadership. It's me," said DT Chas Alecixh. "It's on the rest of the seniors. The senior leadership was horrendous, and mainly with me. Just making sure some of the younger guys ... know their stuff." Coach Todd Graham added, speaking to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "I'm proud of how hard our guys played, but close games are won and lost on leadership and it is my responsibility to get those guys and do a better job of coaching them down the stretch so we can win a game like that." - The Sports Xchange

09/14/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: DT Chas Alecxih - A solid force in the middle, Alecxih is coming off the high of intercepting a pass and returning it 47 yards to set up the key touchdown against Maine. While it didn't go as a score for the defense, it did set up a score. Over the time the Pitt defense has scored its last 21 touchdowns, the Panthers are 19-0. Alecxih's main role is helping to stop the inside running game and Maine managed only 37 yards on 25 carries. - The Sports Xchange

09/08/2011 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: There was a lot of work to do after the Buffalo game, considering Pitt allowed Buffalo to run 93 plays, but it wound up in only 16 points and, in fact, turned in the game's big play when DT Chas Alecxih's ran an interception back 47 yards to set up the key score in the game. The last defensive lineman to return an interception for a TD was Gus Mustakas, who had a 9-yard return in 2006. Pressure on the passer has become a Pitt staple, led by OLB Brandon Lindsey. He had one of Pitt's two sacks in the opener and Pitt now has at least one sack in 13 consecutive games. - The Sports Xchange
