01/25/2014 - 2014 Senior Bowl, Helped Themselves: Christian Kirksey, OLB, Iowa - The Big Ten remains one of college football's most consistent producers of pro-ready linebackers and Kirksey turned heads this week with his athleticism and instincts. A particularly impressive tackle early in the Senior Bowl game, itself, showed off his closing speed. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

12/05/2013 - 2013 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Christian Kirksey,...Kirksey recorded 11 tackles against Nebraska to become the 17th player in program history to record 300 career tackles. Kirksey has 308 career stops, good enough for 17th in program history, and ranks ninth in the Big Ten with 8.1 tackles per game. - Iowa football

12/05/2013 - 2013 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION (MEDIA): Christian Kirksey,...Morris (Solon, Iowa), Hitchens (Lorain, Ohio), and Kirksey (St. Louis, Mo.), have combined to give the Hawkeyes one of the top linebacker crews in the nation. Hitchens leads Iowa in tackles (102), followed by Morris (99) and Kirksey (97). In career stops, Morris has 392, Kirksey 308 and Hitchens 260. Morris also leads Iowa with four interceptions. - Iowa football

12/03/2013 - 2014 NFL DRAFT, WEEK 14 STOCK REPORT, NFL PROSPECTS WHO HELPED THEMSELVES: LB Christian Kirksey, Iowa...The Hawkeyes' defense is full of overachieving prospects who lack ideal NFL traits, but they show enough to earn them a chance and some of them have the determination to stick. And Kirksey might be one of them. The senior had a terrific final game at Kinnick Stadium on Friday as he led Iowa over Nebraska. Kirksey finished with a team-best 11 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and a forced fumble, earning several awards for his performance.

Listed at 6-2 and 235 pounds, he doesn't appear that big on the football field, but he plays bigger than he looks with the play speed and intensity needed for the position. Kirksey uses his eyes well to diagnose with an accurate first step and the range to make plays at all levels of the field. He is just one-third of a talented trio of Iowa linebackers and while James Morris and Anthony Hitchens receive most of the headlines, Kirksey is a prospect worth keeping track of as he makes the jump to the NFL. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

12/02/2013 - WEEK 14 BIG TEN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Christian Kirksey, Iowa, Sr., LB, St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood East...Notched a team-high 11 tackles in Iowa's 38-17 victory over Nebraska last Friday...Recorded three tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass deflection...Helped the Iowa defense hold Nebraska more than 140 yards below its season rushing average...Reels in the first Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career...Last Iowa Defensive Player of the Week: James Morris (Oct. 28, 2013). - Big Ten football

12/01/2013 - WEEK 14 WALTER CAMP NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: CHRISTIAN KIRKSEY, IOWA, Senior, Linebacker, St. Louis, MO/Hazelwood East...Linebacker Christian Kirksey totaled 11 tackles, including three for losses, and added one quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry as the Hawkeyes defeated Nebraska, 38-17. With the win, Iowa improved to 8-4, 5-3 in the Big Ten. Kirksey is the third Iowa player to earn Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week honors since 2004, joining former Hawkeye linebackers Chad Greenway (Sept. 5, 2004) and Mike Klinkenborg (Sept. 17, 2006). - The Walter Camp Football Foundation

08/13/2013 - OTHER IOWA PROSPECTS TO WATCH: OLB Christian Kirksey (6-1, 235, 4.83)...Long, lean 'backer who looks more like a safety in coverage, and has flashed some pretty impressive athleticism. Despite physical tools, has looked completely clueless at times and has been extremely inconsistent. Raw, but could have big-time upside. Can he put it all together this season? - Derek Stephens, NFLDraftScout.com

07/17/2013 - 2013 BUTKUS AWARD WATCH LIST: Christian Kirksey, Iowa...Kirksey collected 95 tackles as a junior, ranking ninth in the conference in tackles per contest (7.5). The St. Louis, Mo., native ranked first in the Big Ten and second in the nation with four recovered fumbles.
