11/03/2014 - Jalen Whitlow threw four touchdown passes, three to Adam Drake, and ran for another score as Eastern Illinois rolled to a 41-10 win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Whitlow completed 19 of 24 passes for 297 yards with Drake catching six for 153, including a 90-yard touchdown early in the third quarter for the Panthers (4-5, 4-1 Ohio Valley Conference). The school record is a 98-yarder from Tony Romo to Will Bumphus in 2000. Drake now has 23 career touchdowns, second in school history. The Golden Eagles (3-6, 2-4) was limited to 239 yards, 89 through the air. Eastern Illinois piled up 598 yards, including 301 on the ground, but had four turnovers. 10/22/2014 - Jalen Whitlow threw two touchdown passes and ran for three more, and Eastern Illinois' defense forced five turnovers to beat Southeast Missouri 52-13 on Saturday. Whitlow connected with Adam Drake with a 50-yard strike in the first quarter, and hit Drake again with a 5-yard touchdown late in the third. Whitlow ran for 3, 13, and 2-yard scores. He finished with 213 yards passing without an interception, and ran for 75. Deonte Jackson recovered a fumble, Jourdan Wickliffe had two interceptions, and Anthony Goodman and Anthony Standifer had one. Jimmy Lera added a 96-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth for Eastern Illinois (2-5, 2-1 Ohio Valley). Eastern Illinois bounced back after having its 13-game conference win streak snapped last week against Eastern Kentucky. 10/16/2014 - SEPT 29 OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Jalen Whitlow, QB, Jr., 6-2, 220, Montgomery, Ala., Eastern Illinois,...Whitlow, the transfer from Kentucky, earned his second-straight OVC Newcomer of the Week honor after his performance in the Panthers loss at Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) foe Ohio. The junior carried the ball 15 times for a team-high 112 yards (7.5 ypc) and a touchdown and completed 30-of-46 passes for 289 yards and another score. His rushing score came on a one-yard run in the second quarter and his touchdown pass was a six-yard completion to Anthony Taylor in the fourth quarter. Whitlow ranks third in the OVC and 47th nationally in rushing (79.0 yards/game) and 41th nationally in total offense (237.6 yards/game). 10/16/2014 - SEPT 22 OVC CO-NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Jalen Whitlow, QB, Jr., 6-2, 220, Montgomery, Ala., Eastern Illinois,...Whitlow, the transfer from Kentucky, set an Eastern Illinois record for rushing yards by a quarterback in carrying the ball 15 times for 137 yards (9.1 ypc) and two touchdowns in the team's 63-7 victory over Austin Peay. The previous record had been 134 yards by Joe Davis in 1968. Whitlow was also efficient as a passer, completing 13-of-15 passes (86.7%) for 159 yards and two additional touchdowns. Overall EIU rushed for 413 yards (tying a school record set a season ago) and finished the day with 620 yards of total offense (10th-best in school history). 10/16/2014 - OCT 13 OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Jalen Whitlow, QB, Jr., 6-2, 220, Montgomery, Ala., Eastern Illinois,...Whitlow earned his third OVC Newcomer of the Week honor of the season after passing for two touchdowns and running for another in his team's overtime loss at No. 16 Eastern Kentucky. Whitlow, the transfer from Kentucky, completed 26-of-40 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns and also carried the ball 14 times for 88 yards and a touchdown.
His touchdown pass to Adam Drake with 1:04 left in regulation capped an 11-play, 64-yard drive and tied the game at 33. Through six games Whitlow has already rushed for 483 yards, a new EIU single-season record by a quarterback. Whitlow currently ranks third in the OVC in rushing (80.5 yards/game). He has now gone three-straight games without throwing an interception. 04/16/2014 - Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has announced that junior quarterback Jalen Whitlow will transfer after starting 15 games the past two seasons for the Wildcats. Alternating at times last season with Maxwell Smith, Whitlow threw for 1,033 yards and five touchdowns in eight starts. He threw for 801 yards and five TDs in 10 games with seven starts as a freshman after Smith sustained an ankle injury. Whitlow also rushed for 663 yards and nine TDs the past two seasons. This spring, he was among a QB crew including Smith, Patrick Towles, Reese Phillips and freshman Drew Barker. Stoops said in a statement that he respects Whitlow's decision, adding, "I want everyone to understand how hard he has worked and the effort he has given since our staff has been here." - AP Sports
