Schable, who was recently named to the first-team defense on AP's Little All-American team, led the nation with 1.7 sacks per game. In 2005, he had 19 sacks, which established a South Dakota school record (Doug Nielsen, 13, 1988). Schable was a first-team selection on the All-NCC squad and a pair of all-region teams. He finished the season with 60 tackles, including 43 solo stops and 22.5 tackles for loss, which ranked fourth nationally (2.0 per game). Schable recorded three sacks against St. Cloud State (Oct. 15), Upper Iowa (Oct. 22) and North Dakota (Nov. 5).

He also recorded two or more sacks in seven games this season and had at least one sack in nine of the team's 11 games. In addition, Schable recorded his first career punt block in the Coyotes' 59-14 win over then-fourth-ranked Nebraska-Omaha on Sept. 24. Schable started 39 straight games on defense, dating back to his freshman season. In 2005, he recorded two or more tackles for loss in seven games with a season-high of four vs. Upper Iowa (Oct. 22). He also had three tackles for loss against Nebraska-Omaha (Sept. 24), Augustana (Oct. 1), St. Cloud State (Oct. 15) and North Dakota (Nov. 5).

Schable recorded double-digit tackles twice (Nebraska-Omaha, St. Cloud State) and had six or more tackles five times in 2005. He had a career-best 11 tackles against St. Cloud State (Oct. 15). Schable, who is the son of Carl and Ellen Schable, is a health, physical education and recreation major.

2004 Season

Named honorable mention All-NCC … notched 40 tackles, including 20 solo stops, 9.5 tackles for loss (-37 yards), and four sacks (-24 yards) for the year … started in all 11 games … named team Defensive MVP vs. SCSU (Oct. 18) … had three sacks for loss (-18 yards) and forced a fumble in 45-12 win over Upper Iowa (Oct. 23) … recorded a blocked kick vs. UND (Nov. 6).

2003 Season

Recorded 25 tackles, including 16 solo stops, 4.5 tackles for loss (-11 yards), and three sacks (-7 yards) in ten games played … also had a pass break-up … named Defensive MVP vs. SDSU (Oct. 25).

2002 Season

Compiled 20 tackles, including 12 solo stops, eight tackles for loss (-38 yards), and two quarterback sacks (-18 yards) in nine games … received the Defensive Hustle Award vs. Augustana (Oct. 11).

High School

Recorded 202.5 tackles, rushed for 1,389 yards on 238 carries (5.8 avg), 14 TDs, and had a 39.0 punting average during his career at Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School … broke school records in rushing with 1,055 yards on 157 carries and 11 TDs as a senior … named first team all-district running back, first team all-Western Iowa Linebacker, and Sioux City Journal and KTIV Athlete of the Week during senior season … coached by David Winterrowd.

Lettered four years in track … participated in the shot put, discus, 100m, 200m, 400m, and the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays … placed sixth in the discus at the Iowa State Track and Field Championships during his junior year … also a three-time letterwinner in basketball and two-year letterwinner in baseball.
