02/02/2011 - It didn't take long for Jarred Fayson to remember his way around his hometown. In fact, he quickly retraced his steps to a gym on Dale Mabry. Trainer Josh Cooper has worked with Fayson since his sophomore year at Hillsborough High School. Quickly after graduating from the University of Illinois in December, Fayson was back at Cooper's gym. "This is the place I consider home," Fayson said of Cooper Speed and Strength. Fayson is working out twice a day, six days a week, in preparation for February's NFL Combine and his pro day at Illinois in March. Fayson signed with the Florida Gators out of high school, but transferred to Illinois after two seasons. "I don't regret anything about the decision I made," Fayson said. "My time spent in Illinois was well worth it. Mainly I got a degree. Secondly, I'm gonna have a chance to play in the best league there is." His motivation is two-fold. Fayson has always wanted to play in the NFL, but now wants to make sure he gives his best effort to attain that goal for his older brother Arius, who died in a motorcycle accident in 2008. "He was the apex of my family. He was my father, basically," Fayson said of his older brother. So each workout is meant to prove his worth to the NFL and carry out a goal set by Arius. "He made sure I ate right. He made sure I was on time to everything. He made sure I worked hard," Fayson said. - Travis Bell, WTSP TV 10 News
