Outstanding talent who is the latest in a succession of dominant offensive linemen to come out of the UNM program … had been overshadowed a bit early in his career by some of the Lobos' other elite linemen, but made a name for himself over the past 2 years, earning first team all-MWC honors at guard in 2005 and 06 … was listed as one of the nation's top senior guards by ESPN.com's NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. during the summer … did not partake in contact drills during the spring in order to allow a broken wrist to heal completely … suffered the injury in the 2005 season finale vs. Air Force, but did not leave the game … one of the premier run blockers in the Mountain West Conference, paving the way for a 1,000-yard rusher all 4 years of his career, and has improved his pass protection each year as well … a very personable and mature young man off the field, but is an intimidating, fiery competitor between the lines … is the Lobos' enforcer on offense who is one of the most physical linemen ever to come through the program … now the leader of the Lobos' gigantic group of offensive linemen, known as The Hitmen.

Is usually the first player to help his teammates up after being tackled and the first into the end zone to congratulate a UNM touchdown scorer … teammates named him Most Inspirational Player following the '05 season … has started all 48 games of his career and is tied for 5th in the country for consecutive starts … outstanding lower-body strength with a max of 605 in the squat … was a little overweight when he arrived at UNM, but he has improved his mobility greatly after dropping nearly 25 pounds over the past two years … is now totally committed to his fitness and vigilant about his nutrition … enjoys cooking and said he considered going to culinary school when he was younger … 2003 Scripps/FWAA Freshman All-America Team selection … moved into the starting lineup at guard during the final week of 03 preseason practice … was on the travel squad throughout the season as a true freshman.

Positives: Good size and at least adequate initial quickness off the snap. Has an effective hand punch and can lock out defenders. At his best as a pass blocker. Good lateral slide and some short-area quickness to squeeze the defender. Hard worker who gets the most out of his ability. Flashes some nastiness. Stepped up his level of play at the East-West Shrine Game against better competition.

Negatives: Lacks overall athleticism. Not explosive out of his stance and only has marginal ability to gain movement as a run blocker. Lacks agility when blocking on the move. Only marginal upside due to his moderate natural skills and may be maxed out.
