10/09/2009 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: A consistent effort against the run game is needed. The Falcons are allowing an average of 190.2 yards on the ground. Also the Falcons must limit the big plays by the opposition. Opponents are averaging 30.2 points per game. At the midway point of the season it's time for BG's defense to stand up and make a difference. There are five seniors starting on the unit. PLAYERS TO WATCH: Safety Jahmal Brown has the most experience on the BG defense and he has to rally his teammates, both by example and verbally if they hope to turn around a four-game losing streak and make a run for the MAC East title.

07/01/2009 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: The defense was hit hard by graduation, on the line, at linebacker and at cornerback. With seniors Cody Basler and James Schneider along with returning starter Jerett Sanderson, the top three linebackers appear to be set. Angelo Magnone and Nick Torresso have contributed in the past on the line, but both now have to take bigger roles. The safety tandem of Jahmal Brown and P.J. Mahone are the anchors of the unit. The seniors have combined for 441 tackles and 11 interceptions in their careers.
