10/13/2010 - The knee injury suffered in last Saturday's football game is going to cost Texas A&M-Kingsville wide receiver Delashaun Dean the final five games of his senior season. The transfer from Arizona damaged his left knee after completing a 48-yard catch-and-run on the third play from scrimmage in the Javelinas' 28-21 victory at Angelo State. An MRI on Monday revealed significant damage to the joint that will require surgery, which tentatively is scheduled for next week once swelling reduces in the knee. "It's not the final reading but he's not going to be back," A&M-Kingsville coach Bo Atterberry said Tuesday. "I don't know exactly all the specifics but based on the initial evaluation he won't be back." Dean said the MRI revealed he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, the meniscus and a grade 2 tear of his medial collateral ligament. Dean was running a post pattern and caught the pass from quarterback Nate Poppell. As Dean accelerated, he was dragged down from behind by ASU cornerback Husani Sallah and, in the process, the left knee bent backward. Dean was placed in an air cast and carted off the San Angelo Stadium turf on a stretcher. - George Vondracek, Corpus Christi Caller Times
