Career Notes

Named the 2011 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, Edwards owns school and C-USA records for receiving yards (4.471) and career 100-yard games (17). He also boasts the UH record for career receiving scores (43) and is second in school history with at least one reception in 48 consecutive games (every game of his career).

2011 Season

Edwards broke a host of records for the 13-1 Cougars this season en route to earning All-America and Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year recognition. The Hearne, Texas, native finished his career as one of college football's most productive pass-catchers, making 282 receptions for 4,471 yards and 43 scores. This season he ranked among college football's Top 15 in touchdown receptions (No. 1 with 20), receiving yards (No. 2 with 1,752), yards per catch (No. 6 at 19.7) and receptions (No. 15 with 89). Edwards ranked among college football's leaders over the last decade with his 43 TD grabs (No. 4) and 4,471 receiving yards (No. 2).

The Third Team All-American had eight games this season where he topped 100 yards receiving, including one game over 200 yards (228 vs. Penn State) and a career high 318-yard contest vs. Rice, which was the top receiving effort in college football this season. He added a career high five TD receptions in that Rice contest as well. His 228-yard, two-TD afternoon vs. Penn State in the 2012 TicketCity Bowl was the top receiving performance in Cotton Bowl Stadium history.

2010 Season

First-team All-Conference USA selection … started all 12 games … led the Cougars with 71 receptions, 1,100 receiving yards (averaged 15.5 ypr) and 12 receiving touchdowns … team's primary punt returner with 231 yards on 15 attempts, included one touchdown.

2009 Season

All-Conference USA Second Team. Third on team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns … one of three Cougar receivers to earn C-USA postseason honors … One of 29 players to compete in all 14 games … returned to lineup with start against Northwestern State during the season opener … posted four catches for 52 yards against the Demons … recorded seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown at No. 5/6 Oklahoma State … gave the Cougars their first double-digit lead with a 17-yard touchdown reception late in the first half against the Cowboys … collected seven catches for 92 yards against Texas Tech … posted eight catches for 90 yards at C-USA rival UTEP … hauled in six catches at Mississippi State … led all players with nine catches for 122 yards and a touchdown against C-USA rival SMU … hauled in the game-winning touchdown with only 21 seconds remaining against Southern Miss … finished with seven catches for 61 yards against the Golden Eagles … recorded 11 catches for 176 yards at C-USA rival Tulsa … posted four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown against C-USA rival Memphis … hauled in a 57-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter against the Tigers … recorded four catches for 68 yards and scored on a 39-yard touchdown early it he second quarter against C-USA rival Rice. Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl: Tied a Houston single-season record with 14 games played against Air Force.

2008 Season

Key offensive contributor before suffering a severe leg injury … caught at least four passes in each of the first eight games … three straight games with a touchdown catch, each against a C-USA opponent … posted four catches for 55 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, against Southern during the season opener … Enjoyed a career day at Oklahoma State … caught eight passes for 106 yards to lead the Cougars in both categories … also returned eight kickoffs for 171 yards, including a long of 41 yards on the opening kickoff … returned five kickoffs at least 20 yards at OSU … returned five kickoffs for 94 yards and added six catches for 62 yards at Colorado State … enjoyed a career day at No. 23 East Carolina … hauled in 11 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown through the air and added a 35-yard run against the Pirates … posted five catches for 93 yards and added a 70-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter against C-USA rival UAB. … finished with four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown at C-USA rival SMU … scored the Cougars' first points on a 29-yard touchdown catch early in the second quarter against the Mustangs … posted three catches for 30 yards but was lost for the season after suffering a gruesome broken leg at C-USA rival Marshall (after which he sued the school, Conference USA, and the referee for "needlessly endangered college football players by maintaining an unsafe playing field".)

2007 Season

Played for Ralph Lymas at Hearne High School … helped lead team to an 8-5 record and a spot in the state quarterfinals … named First Team All-State … also picked up All-District and All-Brazos Valley as a wide receiver … was an All-Region and All-District basketball player … selected All-District in baseball as well … was a state runner-up on the 4x100-meter relay team … had perfect attendance in high school … a member of the A-B Honor Roll.
