Latest News
03/10/2010 - Two of Alabama's top players, linebacker Rolando McClain and nose tackle Terrence Cody, missed the Crimson Tide's trip Monday to Washington, D.C., in preparation for today's event, which will likely draw representatives from every NFL team. McClain opted not to work out at the combine. Cody, who dropped 16 pounds between the Senior Bowl and the combine to 354 pounds, will be weighed again today with great interest from roughly 10 NFL teams who employ the 3-4 defensive scheme to which Cody is suited. Pro Day will also be a first-look opportunity for a number of UA players who were not invited to the combine. While 10 members of the team were in Indianapolis, other draft hopefuls such as running back Roy Upchurch, linebacker Eryk Anders and defensive back Marquise Johnson were not. - Chase Goodbread, TodeSports.com

02/24/2010 - You don't have to go to the NFL Combine to go to the NFL. Alabama alumni Eryk Anders and Zeke Knight are taking the road less traveled toward the league. They share a goal and a whole lot more. They're friends and former teammates, linebackers who made the transition from Mike Shula to Nick Saban. They're current roommates in Atlanta, where they've been working out at Competitive Edge Sports for the past month, preparing to impress NFL scouts beyond the combine. They have the same upstart agent, John Phillips of the Breakthrough Sports Agency in Jacksonville, Fla., who calls them "underdogs" with affection, and good reason. Anders made two highlight moves in Alabama's BCS Championship Game victory. He made the sack that caused the fumble that ended the last Texas hope, and he helped dump the Gatorade bucket that soaked Saban in celebration. Phillips said Tuesday that he's received a positive response from more than one NFL team about Anders, who recently ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at 238 pounds. If Anders doesn't get drafted, his agent is confident you'll see him in an NFL training camp as a free agent. - Kevin Scarbinsky, The Birmingham News
