Brown finished seventh in the Lone Star Conference in tackles, spearheading a defense that finished third in the league in total defense (354.5 yards per game allowed) and allowed the second-fewest first downs in the league (179). Brown was eighth in the LSC in sacks and tied for ninth in tackles for loss. He finished in the top 100 in NCAA Division II football last year in both tackles (68th) and fumbles forced per game (100th).

Led the Wildcats in tackles in three games during the season and had three double-digit total tackle games: 14 in a 33-30 loss to Eastern New Mexico, 13 in a 49-37 loss to Central Oklahoma and 10 in a win over nationally ranked Tarleton State. After the season, he was voted first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division and second team NCAA Division II all-Southwest Region by Daktronics.

Junior College

Blinn Junior college: Played sparingly as a freshman in 2002 before sitting out the 2003 season. Came back as a sophomore in 2004, though, and racked up 83 tackles, good for sixth in the Southwestern Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC). In two seasons, Brown recorded 98 tackles, two interceptions and six sacks. In those two seasons with Brown at middle linebacker, the Blinn defense did not allow a 100-yard rusher in any game. As a sophomore in 2004, led Blinn to a 20-14 win over Jones County (Miss.) College in the Sea Island Bowl. Brown had 16 tackles and two sacks in the game.

High School

As a senior at Klein Oak HS, Brown led all Texas Class 5A linebackers with 16 sacks while also recording 114 tackles. Named first team Class 5A all-state and was the district Defensive MVP.
