Overview

The Aliquippa native decided to stay close to home to play for Pitt to begin his college career as a linebacker and safety prospect, but transferred to Division II Edinboro in 2007 before winding up at California (Pa.) in 2008.

Campbell was selected to play in the inaugural Eastham Energy All-Star Game and the Cactus Bowl, giving him an opportunity to work out in front of NFL scouts. He took advantage of the opportunity, running a blistering 4.31-second 40-yard dash at the Cactus Bowl in Texas, where he was one of only eight D-II players invited.

A four-game starter at cornerback in 2010, he's also a free safety prospect who will need to earn his roster spot on special teams. In time, he could be a fit as a hard-hitting Cover-2 cornerback or free safety.

Analysis

Positives: Has great height with good leaping ability. Quick feet with a smooth back pedal. Possesses good speed and acceleration. Wraps up well when tackling. Athletic enough to turn and run with receivers down the field. Flips his hips well. Changes directions very quickly.

Negatives: Not an aggressive tackler. Does not like to be physical with receivers. Gives too much of a cushion and struggles to recover on comeback routes. Does not have great balance. Not comfortable in press coverage. Does not react quickly to pressure steps. Has difficulty shedding wide receiver blocks. Little urgency to contribute in run support. Does not have much of a closing burst.
