- SEPT 5 GULF SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Alabama linebacker Marcus Dowtin (SR, 6-2, 226, Upper Marlboro, MD) is the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 3rd. Dowtin takes home his first-ever accolade after spearheading UNA's defense in a 31-10, Thursday-night home win over Central Oklahoma. The senior posted a team-high nine tackles, including two solo stops. The Upper Marlboro, MS native also had a hand in two turnovers, forcing one fumble and intercepting a pass which he returned for 23 yards.
