Player News
05/12/2014 - First-round selection Dee Ford quickly won over Chiefs fans when he showed his knowledge of the top pass rusher in franchise history - Hall of Fame outside linebacker Derrick Thomas. "This is the home of Derrick Thomas and I know you all remember that speed," Ford said. "That get-off is vital and so deadly. The speed rush itself opens up everything. I love the speed rush, love the speed and power. Pass rush is an art and it's all about what you put into it."

The Chiefs selected Ford because of his pass-rushing ability. Ford has very defined opinions of what's important when getting the opposing passer on the ground. "It's one thing to have a lot of sacks and it's one thing to have efficient sacks," Ford said. "Anyone can go out and have 10 or 12 sacks (in a season); but when your team really needs you to end the game or end a drive and you have those sacks, those are very vital to your team. I want to always have productive, efficient sacks." - The Sports Xchange
