Latest News
10/11/2010 - Somehow, Boston College has to figure a way out of this mess. The first three-game losing streak for the program since 1998 could easily become a four-gamer this week when the Eagles travel to No. 16 Florida State. "You have to have confidence in yourself and you have to have confidence in your ability and move forward," coach Frank Spaziani said after Saturday's dismal 44-17 loss at North Carolina State, led by former BC coach Tom O'Brien. "We can't be shattered by negative things. We have to move forward." Boston College (2-3, 0-2 ACC) has been outscored 94-30 in losses to Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and N.C. State. The Eagles now go to Tallahassee to face the 5-1 Seminoles. "Troubled times," said safety Wes Davis. "It hurts. It does. I'd be lying to you if I said anything different. And I'd be lying to you if I said guys weren't out there fighting. "This is the nature of athletics. Sometimes people tune you up. The only thing you can do at times like this is minimize your goals to maximize your potential. That's what we've got to start doing. Right now, that next game is all there is." The Eagles, with a streak of 11 straight bowl trips very much in doubt, still don't have a quarterback. David Shinskie was back as the starter Saturday because of the injury to freshman Chase Rettig, and Shinskie responded with perhaps the worst game he's played in his season and a half as the starter. He was dreadful, going 7-for-24 for 89 yards, two interceptions and a touchdown. Yes, he was under pressure, but his passing was scattered at best before he was lifted in the second half. The Eagles had a punt blocked for a touchdown and an interception returned for another score in the rout.
