Latest News
08/30/2012 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: The Gophers have no chance to improve if the defense doesn't play better. Minnesota, which allowed an average of 403.1 yards per game last season, couldn't stop the run or the pass in 2011. Opponents averaged 186.4 rushing yards a game. Minnesota also couldn't get to the quarterback, recording only 22 sacks. The offense had little chance to stay in games as Minnesota allowed an average of 31.7 points and gave up 40 or more points four times. The coaching staff believes the addition of several junior college players will boost the overall speed on this side of the ball. PLAYERS TO WATCH: LB Mike Rallis -- The senior is the top returnee on defense. Rallis will be counted on to make plays and provide leadership. He missed the spring game because of a hamstring injury, but appears to be 100 percent physically. - The Sports Xchange
