Johnson arrived at UCF in 2011 after transferring from the University of Miami. He sat out that year until recording 113 carries for 507 yards and four touchdowns in 2012 behind eventual Oakland Raiders draft pick Latavius Murray. In two seasons as a Knight, Johnson finished with 1,646 rushing yards on 326 attempts for a 5.0 average, delivering 18 touchdowns in the process. He was named the All-American Athletic Conference First Team running back in 2013.
Then as the starter in 2013, Johnson exploded for 1,139 rushing yards on 213 carries for a 5.3 average. He also added 14 touchdowns on the ground. He finished with a career-high 127 yards on the ground...At Temple 11/16: Finished with 122 yards rushing on 14 carries. This marked his second-consecutive 100 yard rushing game, fourth this season and fourth of his career. Johnson also delivered his longest rush of his career, a 73-yard run in the second quarter.
