The Miami Herald reports Rhodes, who would have been a senior this coming season, was arrested just after midnight on Sunday and was charged with discharging a weapon on school property, which is a second-degree felony. The paper also reports Rhodes was charged with three unnamed misdemeanor charges as well. Rhodes led the Panthers in rushing last season with 717 yards and four touchdowns. In the 2011 season, he rushed for 1,149 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 54 passes for 545 yards and another two touchdowns during his career.
Without Rhodes, the Panthers' leading returning rusher will be quarterback Jake Medlock, who rushed for 236 yards and three touchdowns last season. Running back Shane Coleman will likely take over the starting role, and he's coming off a season in which he only had eight carries for 34 yards. - Tom Fornelli, CBSSports.com
