Pete Prisco's live draft analysis - Round 2
No. 33: Rams select: Rodger Saffold, OT, IndianaGrade
Analysis: I like this pick. They get a left tackle to go with their quarterback. He is a player who will protect the blindside for a long time.
B+
No. 34: Vikings select: Chris Cook, CB, VirginiaGrade
Analysis: They liked him and almost considered him in the first round. He is a bigger corner who has cover skills. They need help there, so it works.
B
No. 35: Buccaneers select: Brian Price, DT, UCLAGrade
Analysis: The Bucs solved their defensive tackle problems with one draft. They add Price to Gerald McCoy, their first-round pick. Some had Price as a first-round pick. This is good value.
B+
No. 36: Chiefs select: Dexter McCluster, WR/RB, MississippiGrade
Analysis: He is a speedy back, but don't the Chiefs have Jamal Charles? I think this is too high for a specialist. He's a good player, but this is high.
C
No. 37: Eagles select: Nate Allen, FS, South FloridaGrade
Analysis: The Eagles need help at safety and he has the range you need. I like this a lot.
A
No. 38: Browns select: T.J. Ward, SS, OregonGrade
Analysis: This is a surprise. Why not Clausen? Ward is a good player, but they need a passer.
C
No. 39: Buccaneers select: Arrelious Benn, WR, IllinoisGrade
Analysis: The Bucs needed a big-play receiver, and this kid has that skill. He can run. He was hurt by his quarterback at Illinois. Josh Freeman will love him.
A
No. 40: Dolphins select: Koa Misi, OLB, UtahGrade
Analysis: The one thing you can expect is good players being drafted by the Miami Dolphins. Bill Parcells knows players. Misi is a good player. He will rush the passer from his 3-4 outside spot.
B+
No. 41: Bills select: Torrell Troup, DT, Central FloridaGrade
Analysis: The Bills need a bigger nose tackle for their move to the 3-4 and this kid weighs 314 pounds. He was a three-year starter. I think Cam Thomas or Terence Cody were better options.
C
No. 42: Patriots select: Rob Gronkowski, TE, ArizonaGrade
Analysis: This is the best pick of the round. Typical Patriots. They get a great player who has some back issues, but he is a heck of a player. I thought they might take him in the first round. Wow.
A+
No. 43: Ravens select: Sergio Kindle, OLB, TexasGrade
Analysis: He is a good player, but there are injury concerns and he has some off-the-field issues. But you can bet the Ravens will keep him in check. He might really liven up that pass rush.
B
No. 44: Raiders select: Lamarr Houston, DT, TexasGrade
Analysis: The Raiders are getting it right this year. Houston is a nice player. He is a former running back who can really play the run. I think he will be an immediate impact player. Give Al Davis credit for his first two picks.
A
No. 45: Broncos select: Zane Beadles, OG, UtahGrade
Analysis: He is former tackle at Utah who will move inside to guard. The Broncos want to get bigger on the line, so this makes sense. He should make a smooth transition.
B
No. 46: Giants select: Linval Joseph, DT, East CarolinaGrade
Analysis: The Giants continue to draft well this year. This kid is a better player than Troup, who went earlier in the round. He's a force inside who has jumped up a lot of team's boards.
A
No. 47: Cardinals select: Daryl Washington, OLB, TCUGrade
Analysis: The Cardinals considered him in the first round, so they get value here. He can really help the inside of their defense. He will play inside in their 3-4, replacing Karlos Dansby.
B+
No. 48: Panthers select: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre DameGrade
Analysis: This is a steal. Wow. The Panthers needed a passer, and they get one. This will work out well for the Panthers and Clausen. He will be better than Tebow.
A+
No. 49: 49ers select: Taylor Mays, FS, USCGrade
Analysis: The 49ers need help at safety, but they need to improve their coverage. Mays isn't a cover corner. He doesn't play the ball well. Chad Jones was a better option.
C
No. 50: Chiefs select: Javier Arenas, CB, AlabamaGrade
Analysis: I think he's a tad overrated. I know they are probably picking him for his return game, but he is a little overrated as a corner. Nickel corner, maybe?
B-
No. 51: Vikings select: Toby Gerhart, RB, StanfordGrade
Analysis: The Vikings get a good runner, but I saw better ones on the board. He is faster than you think, and will be big in backing up Adrian Peterson.
B-
No. 52: Steelers select: Jason Worilds, OLB, Virginia TechGrade
Analysis: With James Harrison getting older, they need a potential replacement. He will move from down end to outside linebacker. The Steelers love guys like him. It works.
B
No. 53: Patriots select: Jermaine Cunningham, DE, FloridaGrade
Analysis: The Patriots are looking to amp up their pass rush and Cunningham can do that. He will move to outside linebacker. He had some injury issues, but he has speed off the edge.
B+
No. 54: Bengals select: Carlos Dunlap, DE, FloridaGrade
Analysis: He dropped down a lot of boards when he didn't play as well as expected last season. The Bengals need pass-rush help and there is value here. He has a chance to be a good player if he wants to be.
B-
No. 55: Cowboys select: Sean Lee, ILB, Penn StateGrade
Analysis: The Cowboys land a real steal here. Lee will be a solid 10-year starter. Jerry Jones and crew are having a really nice draft.
A
No. 56: Packers select: Mike Neal, DT, PurdueGrade
Analysis: This might be a little high for Neal. There were other defensive tackles higher rated on the board. He needs to validate their decision to take him over the value of some others.
C
No. 57: Ravens select: Terrence Cody, DT, AlabamaGrade
Analysis: I love this pick. The Ravens get it. If they control his weight, and they will, he will be a great pick. He can cause havoc in the middle. Give Ozzie Newsome credit for another good pick.
A
No. 58: Texans select: Ben Tate, RB, AuburnGrade
Analysis: The Texans needed a back, so they traded up to get Tate. He fits. He is a good player who will be an even better player in the NFL. I like this move.
B+
No. 59: Browns select: Montario Hardesty, RB, TennesseeGrade
Analysis: I like the kid, but I'm not sure I like him for the Browns. They have Harrison. Do they really need another back? Why not Colt McCoy? Who throws the ball?
C
No. 60: Seahawks select: Golden Tate, WR, Notre DameGrade
Analysis: Seattle needed help at receiver and it gets a kid who some saw as a first-round pick. He has speed, but size is an issue. I think Pete Carroll knows him well. It fits.
B+
No. 61: Jets select: Vladimir Ducasse, OT, MassachusettsGrade
Analysis: They are ready to make a change at left guard with Alan Faneca. This kid played tackle in college, but he will slide inside to guard. He could also play right tackle. I like this pick. He is raw, but talented.
B+
No. 62: Patriots select: Brandon Spikes, ILB, FloridaGrade
Analysis: Of all the Patriots pick, this one is the one I like the least. I just don't think he runs well enough. At least in their 3-4 scheme, they can cover him up some.
C+
No. 63: Colts select: Pat Angerer, ILB, IowaGrade
Analysis: He is a fundamentally sound linebacker who has a nose for the football. He doesn't run that well, but Bill Polian likes Big Ten players. He made a lot of tackles at Iowa.
B-
No. 64: Saints select: Charles Brown, OT, USCGrade
Analysis: The Saints pick of Brown at the end of the first round is a real value. This former tight end is athletic. It could mean Jammal Brown will be moved.
B+
